Update: not recommended

Update: I was able to drive this weekend. The square tube with a diameter of about 1 inch is clearly undersized. Bikes bounce like ping pong balls. It's not about what if, it's about when it breaks and to top it off, holes are drilled in the pipe. I do not recommend. First impression: Pros: 1. Looks good.2. Light weight.3. Works.4. The hitch is neat Minus: 1. Folding pivot loose --- DIRT.2. Support arms will not lock in lowered/stowed position --- RATTLE.3. Putting a lock on the hold down arms…

Great bike rack for the price

Definitely recommend bike rack! This is better quality than I thought it would be and fits my 2" hitch very well and is pretty solid. The locking arms and hitch also work great and are very easy to use. It is really adjustable and easily fits 2 bikes. I saw another review that mentioned tire belts and he was right; They're a bit long and can be tedious, but not so much that they should affect your purchasing decision. Ultimately it is in my book with Thule above but not entirely kuat. I think…

Pros
  • Constant test results
Cons
  • Not sure

Beware. On my second ride with my new bike on the rack, the strap holding the rear wheel came loose and that end of the bike fell off at 60 mph on the freeway. He hung / dragged. Killed the derailleur, scratched the paint and fender, adjusted the chainguard. Who knows what more damage until I take it to the workshop. A brand new bike is completely useless because the belt was loose. Beware of this design flaw!

Ease of use.: Bike rack

I'm in my 60's and after retirement got back into cycling to get in shape. This bike rack is very easy to use and seems very safe for my bike step. It was easy for me and my husband to get together. The stand fits my 2" receiver snugly. I've used it in my Toyota RAV4 and can open the sunroof when the bike is tipped down onto the rack. My only complaint, and it's a very small one, is the stiffness the straps that hold the wheels to the wheel pan.Hopefully after some use they will get a bit more…

Rust, welds are torn!

As mentioned in the previous review, this item WILL rust. Be sure to take it off when not in use. Also, I didn't have enough time to clean the bumper on my 2018 Nissan Rogue, so I had to buy an extension cord (no big deal). I also think that the wheel belts should be replaced if they break, but I don't think that's the case. I really liked the locking mechanism that attaches to the actual hitch. When the bikes are properly seated on the rack, the bikes are fairly secure. Gave 3 stars due to a…

90% as good as the big ones for 60% of the cost!

This thing is really awesome. If you're wondering what you're missing at the price difference between this and the Kuat NV or Thule T2. Well I'll tell you. Kuat NV is the most beautiful bike carrier. It's not looking too good. However, this is a bike rack, so .2. Integrated cable locks. It doesn't have it. Each lever locks onto the front wheel of each bike, and each of these locks share the same key as the hitch lock. So it really doesn't matter (to me). If I'm in an area with a high theft…

Nice rack but a bit overpriced

The rack is very well designed with innovative built in locking features to secure both the rack to the hitch and the bike to the rack. A few cons for me are as follows; The red straps that go around the front and rear wheels are stiff and a lot longer than they need to be - even for my 29 x 2.6 wheels/tires. I haven't found a good way to remove the straps from the tray so I can drop the bike in place. You almost need a third hand. Difficult to remove laterally due to the size and rigidity of…

But great bike rack.

When it comes to bike transport, it's one of, if not the, best. Installation is easy and even assembling two bikes takes no more than a minute or two. Bikes are perfectly safe, as evidenced by my 1000 mile ride on mixed quality roads. It is well built and requires minimal and easy assembly. The trunk of my car can be opened and made accessible even when the bikes are on the stand, but of course it's not as easy as without the trunk. When not in use, the tray folds neatly and easily. I bought…

Reliable design and safety

My husband and I collected several hours; We wanted to make sure we read the instructions multiple times to understand the names of the parts mentioned and any confusion that might have arisen. For the most part, the instructions were clear and the diagrams helpful. Comments from previous reviewers were also very helpful regarding the hard red wheel straps and proper front wheelbase placement. But we ran into 3 of our own errors. At first we had trouble installing the front wheel piece into the
