Great Bike Holder for Jeep Wrangler

Perfect for my heavy mountain bike! Use it almost daily. Durable and strong. My belts lasted 2 years. I just bought my second bike rack. I'm wondering if it would be possible to just replace the straps? Spend the extra money and buy this bike rack over an equally priced model. Great bike rack! Easy to use ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

Pros
  • Fits almost any outboard mounted spare wheel including those with auxiliary brake lights above the tire.
Cons
  • A few little things

Why pay more? for bike mounts

$300 model from REI. At $50, this model seemed cheap - suspiciously cheap. I tried this model and I am very satisfied with my purchase. The installation took only a few minutes and everything was fine. Note for this model. The RAV4 straps were barely long enough to slip under the bumper and I solved this problem by attaching a carabiner through the hole I wanted the strap to reach and clipping the strap to the clip. I used it on a pretty windy day for a 750 mile ride from California to Utahโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Quick Set 15 inch long carry handles snap right out of the box
Cons
  • Don't really like it, it's ok

Great for a 1000 mile journey!

We have this bike rack for our 2008 Toyota RAV4 to take our bikes to Florida on an 800 mile train ride and then continue the 5 hour drive. I read a lot of reviews before settling on the "premium" version for a few bucks more - mostly because I wanted the convenience of rubber straps, which are easier to put on and take off than nylon straps, which are easier to put on and take off need to thread through plastic clips that come with a cheaper rack. All in all, this is a very solid bike rack that

Great rack! Fits CRV

This worked great for my Honda CRV. I was worried my bike wouldn't fit properly because the spare tire was on the side. But my bike fits perfectly and doesn't stick out to the side. The stand was easy to assemble and attach to my CRV. It is very durable. By hooking the straps to the bottom of the door, I can open the tailgate even when the bike is on the rack. I've used it every weekend around town and will be taking it on a longer bike ride in a few weeks. Excellent purchase!

Pros
  • . Extra wide lower support supports the load on the rear tire, not the rim.
Cons
  • Good but not great

Works great on a dedicated tire rack mounted on the hitch.

I have a special hitch mounted drop down tire carrier that makes it difficult to use most spare wheel bike carriers including well known brands like Yakima and Thule. I needed something that would add minimal weight to my setup, yet be strong enough not to amplify the impact of the spare tire. I've used this three times so far - twice with my trail bike on the rack to and from local parks and the third time with no load but at 80mph on the freeway. The setup has been extremely stiff on all ofโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Fits almost all externally mounted spare tires, including those with additional brake lights above the tire.
Cons
  • Out of style

Why pay more? - Bike Rack

I was researching different bike racks for my 2012 RAV4 and was considering a $300 REI model. At $50, this one seemed cheap to me - suspiciously cheap. I ended up giving this a chance and am very happy with my purchase. Installation took only a few minutes and was fine. Note that on this RAV4 model, the straps were barely long enough to loop under the bumper.
