Alpine S S65 6 5 Inch Coaxial Speakers Review

I really liked the speakers, however the screws that came with them were not very good. I replaced my old Bose 5 3/4 speakers in the rear doors of my 2011 GMC Sierra Crew Cab with these and apart from drilling new screw holes everything was fine. They're louder than the old Bose, but not as responsive in bass. If you want bass, add an amp and a subwoofer! With the standard head unit they become LOUD!

The price is a bit high and I feel like I can get the same quality for less. but they just wouldn't fit because of their depth. Had to move to the back deck it was a big pain but the quality is only good when working with the standard radio. I'd love to hear how they work with an external amp.

Haven't used it much but so far it's really a big improvement over the factory speakers. Factory speakers sound blurry in comparison. Especially with the pleasant, airy heights of the silk dome tweeters. I paired them with stand alone Alpine silk dome tweeters and they all sounded the same. I use a factory amp to drive everything so can't give it a decent low-end rating, but the mids seem to work well.

Huge improvement over my factory speakers (obviously). I chose Alpine because they are known for focusing on the sound quality of their products and they DO NOT disappoint! I've worked as an installer in the car audio industry for a while and have heard of every brand and setup imaginable. In the low-mid range it will be very difficult to do better than this Alpine Type S. Superb clarity and excellent tonal balance.

Installing this on my 14 Jeep Grand Cherokee rear doors. Just remove the door panel and everything else was easy. Lucky that the adapter ring fitted on this model, it didn't fit perfectly, but it works. My jeep is a base model and came with a cheap speaker on the rear doors. The speakers took about 10 minutes (I also put soundproofing material on the door which took several hours). The improvement is huge. The sound is much cleaner, the bass is good. . Not sure if they really are up to 100w RMS / 300w peak as the cones seem to be moving a lot even at half volume. If I put the door panels back on, maybe the quasi-tight air pocket in the door will start dampening the movement of the cone. It should also help with bass, which seems a bit lacking without the door panels.

I installed these speakers in my Volvo S60. Replaced factory speakers that were distorted. I did a lot of research before purchasing and expected an amazing sound, but it's not what I was hoping for. The treble is excellent and much better than the old devices, but the bass is unacceptable for normal listening, not hip hop. I can boost the bass to make it sound good, but it's thin in the plane. I bought these bad babies after seeing many YouTube reviews. The boy was amazed at the sound when I installed them. I put them in a 2001 Chevy Tahoe. All speakers in the front and rear doors replaced. I also have (2) 12" Orions at 2500 watts each. Connected to a 4000w Rockville amp. We're talking about an absolute heartbeat.
