Fatal error Attention: Check the threads

This device has a firm but smooth running of the bearings, since I intended to wear boots when commuting, they certainly do not slip. A BIG POINT to do is check the threads as I found a dent on the side of the threads on a pedal that would ruin my cranks if I tried to install them. Do yourself a favor and get a 9/16-20 thread pitch to tap the threads before installing anything from steel to aluminum. If you don't feel like doing it, ask your local bike shop or other resource to do it for you.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • There are new competitors

Failed - on pedals and spikes

Failed - at first they really impressed me: harshness, platform provided good support, weight. and balance were good. Unfortunately, after 3 months of moderate driving (mainly on gravel), the bearing on the right pedal began to give way. They are not fully out, but there is significant lateral play. I don't know if this is a design flaw or a workmanship but maybe I'm just unlucky looking at most of the reviews but they are history anyway. If you're a casual rider, they'll probably be fine. If…

Were ok until they were.

My 10 year old 100 lb daughter rode them. She maybe ridden her 75 miles? The adjusting nut on the end of the axle (which holds the pedal frame to the axle) just worked loose and the pedal slipped off the axle. Luckily she was driving something consistent and smooth because if it happened on track there could be disaster. There was no Loctite on the threads - just a poor manufacturing/quality control process. I wouldn't recommend this pedal, spend the extra $20 and buy Chesters don't risk injury

Very happy with these pedals

Very happy with these pedals. Not only do they look good, they really help my feet stay on the pedals no matter what shoes I'm wearing. Ease of installation. I don't like clipless pedals so they're perfect for my riding style. The pedals are not too big and not too small. Be careful though, the little prongs that keep your shoes from slipping off while not sharp are still dangerous enough to scratch your shin like they did on mine. With such a wide range of bike pedals to choose from, you need…

Broke on the first ride.

On my first ride after installing these petals, the orange aluminum cap on the end of the petals came loose and fell off. Without that detail, the Petal's platform immediately slides off the bike. This makes them very difficult to use and I have considered buying new petals even though they are almost new to me. If replacement parts were easier to get, or if there were instructions in the box telling me to tighten those aluminum caps, I wouldn't be stuck with a nearly useless petal. I put the…

Great platform pedal for the money

This is a decent pedal for the money. The look of the pedal is outstanding and the quality is there. I separated both of them as they didn't spin freely. A lot of grease was applied from the factory and it was a heavy grease. I cleaned the spindles and applied a smaller amount of light grease. Now they spin much more freely. If you're just an amateur cyclist, leave the pedals alone and they'll be fine. However, if you race occasionally and want to minimize unnecessary friction that saps your…

Great pedal for everyday use.

These are great everyday pedals that are great for light riding or commuting. I use them on my road bike when I don't want to ride with clips. As for mountain biking, I wouldn't expect them to perform well for very long. The bearings are not very good and the pedals are too thick and not wide enough. If you're looking for a good mountain bike pedal, you're looking for one-piece machined pedals with wide, low profile and high-spinning sealed bearings. , have no noticeable difference. Bottom…

Reliable, grippy, reasonable weight, damn good!

I was impressed with their quality right out of the box. The packaging was also pretty darn good for the price. However, I did not buy the package, but the pedals! Their height profile is pretty good, especially when compared to the material blocks of other pedals in this price range. The weight was as expected for an aluminum of this size and shape, just the right amount to inspire confidence without slowing you down. The finishes are great and for the sake of vanity they look damn smooth…
