Trail Running Size

I bought the Altra Superior 2 a few years ago and should have ordered 0.5 sizes up. This one, Superior 4, is true to size. I ordered my normal size and it fits great. The laces are long as mentioned unless you lace up with a heel tie, but that doesn't really matter, just tuck them under the front laces, it's nice to have the option of a heel tie. I'll see how these shoes hold up but initially very satisfied.

Nice soft feel on trails.

I rode about 15 miles in these shoes and enjoyed them. They are unlike any other running shoe I've ever owned. Lots of space in the toe area and well thought out. I would recommend going half a size down. I wear a 9 and had to go back for an 8.5 and still have the distance from my toe to the bottom of the shoe that the manufacturer recommends. Good cushioning for trail running. I also use them for mountain biking, why not? As previous reviewers have pointed out, the laces are a bit too long…

Good but can hang loose in places causing rubbing.

I like that the tongue is on one side, I like the sole, I live in this shoe for hiking but I notice that when I run I get hot spots and more friction on the balls on the foot and balls of feet. ankle than other Altra shoes. I ordered size 11 because I have 4 in Torin and Escalate 11, some people said Superior can be worn without socks, tried this, wore my Achilles tendon down a mile so won't be doing it again. I like these shoes best, but I liked my individual visors more.

Lightweight, comfortable trail running shoes

So I think I bought these shoes a little larger, I usually wear a size 8 1/2 but I would take a size 8 for them a 5K run on asphalt and the next day they dressed her up for a 16 mile trail run up Mount Marcy in New York. They worked quite well, my feet didn't hurt the whole ride. I've used a stone slab for trail running and haven't had any issues with rocks or sharp objects on the trail. Traction was very good, I rode a lot of dirt and wet rocks with a few mistakes here and there on some very…

20 miles in the first run, excellent.

So used to minimal shoes I love the Merrill Trail Glove for short to medium distances. I've wanted something for longer runs for a long time and a friend of mine mentioned that he tried the Altras and liked the zero height and wide toe box. I have quite a wide foot so I usually take a 9 to accommodate the width, although the length ends up being a bit longer. That's why I ordered 8.5 for them. Perfect length but I was concerned about the midfoot where the tongue connects. It was tight in there…

Not durable sneaker

This is my first pair of zero drop sneakers. They fit as expected and I love the wide toe box. Durability is the main issue. I've only ridden 75 miles in these shoes and the soles have started to fall off (see pic). I only use it for running. For potential buyers, I would avoid this shoe for that reason alone. It should also be noted that this is the most minimalist shoe Altra makes, with little to no cushioning. I wasn't aware of that when I bought it. Altra has a picture/table of different…

Great fabric on the toe, not a great tongue or outsole.

I bought these for the desert portion of the PCT. Love the light color (grey) and the fabric in the toe box feels soft and comfortable AND tightly woven which should handle more sand and mud than my Superior 2s and recently purchased Lone Peak 4.5s. I didn't like the one-sided burrito-style tongue, and the standout was the outsole, which doesn't have the flared lip of the older Superior and is a lot stiffer and doesn't have that aggressive profile. So I will return them and leave the Lone Peak…

2nd pair of Altres and I love them!

I love Altra shoes, this is my second pair. I have wide double feet so I shop men. They fit a little at my widest point but not that uncomfortable. love how they look!

Shoes TRAIL but comfortable for everyday

A few years ago I had a pair of Diesel shoes with crosses on the sole. They were great - as long as you moved. Stop for a while and you can feel each one of them. These Altras are similar in this respect. They are listed as trail running shoes. I bought them for everyday use. They are incredibly comfortable and until I stand for a very long time I don't feel the pressure of the springs on the sole. I have Altra Escalantes, male US9. I tried upgrading to US8.5 but they were too tight. As for the
