I needed something to trace fiber optic cables between buildings, this damage detector is awesome! The light is intense and bright and can also be used to find faulty connectors on cables or patch cords.

Excellent fiber optic troubleshooting tool. The light is bright enough to see macro bends and localized breaks in the data center. The build quality is solid and should last a long time.

Light works great but tracker mount isn't secure. I had to use duct tape. No help from seller, said to buy another addon. I did it and it didn't help either. So buyers should beware of fc adapter problems

The only reason I gave four stars is because it came with a cool LC adapter but didn't have storage space for it. It's a very small item and I'm afraid of losing it when I need it most. I think a small stretchy pocket on top of the holder would work well. Otherwise I had no problems.

This little gem is a must see! I work in NOC world and take care of many ISP and OSP issues. I can shoot red light at very long distances. Works much better than more expensive models. I have a 30km model and you can see the light through the shroud of most SM fiber optic jumpers as well as through the protective tips. Except black or dark protectors or scabbards. You can't go wrong with this!

This VFL is very bright. The user can connect it to a fiber optic and shine a red light onto the wall across from the room from the other end. It shoots red light straight through a broken fiber or microbend. It glows with white or clear plastic caps. If the user is trying to find a gap, a large damper can help reduce the intensity. It's significantly more powerful than most VFLs I've used. If it's on and connected to the network, you'll see the other end when you're nearby.

I guess. This can damage the retina. !Buy the bag right away as it comes with additional features for connection. I used a Klien camo lined zippered pouch previously ordered from Revain. Fits perfectly. I'm not sure if this device can troubleshoot. It's so bright it breaks through the breaks in the fiber. I think the best would be to identify individual lines. A kind of continuity tester. I used it to identify circuits from MDF to multiple IDF. Worked great! Couldn't believe how bright it was.
