After installing the gutter guard, I found that leaves that collect around the guards create a dam that causes the gutters to fill and overflow. Water may also have been left in the ditches behind the guards, providing a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

I have another use for these filters. In Florida, small rodents usually run off the grass into a drainpipe to avoid being caught by bobcats. The bobcat then literally rips open the aluminum gutter to get the rodent to eat. I installed these filters in the downspout outlet to keep rodents out.

The photos show not only the wire part but also the plastic part which increases the usefulness of the protection. However, I only got the wired part. We're dealing with pine needles and without the extra plastic shielding it's completely useless because the wires are too far apart. You need to remove a photo from a plastic sign or profitable business.

I recently had my gutters replaced and needed a net to keep leaves and flowers from clogging the drains. The product does not keep its shape because the material is very soft and thin. It was not possible to form a round material to completely block the rectangular drain pipe. I ended up taking the whole shape off and placing it over the hole in the drain pipe. Due to the light weight of the material, it does not last long. Can work well on round downspouts.

I like the design of these screens and how easy they are to install in a downspout. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that despite all due diligence I managed to get blood drawn. The ends of the screens are very sharp and must be handled with great care. If they cut the ends of the wires used to make the screens in their production it would be a much better and safer product to use. Purchased to keep drain pipes clean between cleanings. They are well made but caused more blockages than before installing.
