The ALZO Transformer DSLR Rig is a frame or cage bracket for your DSLR camera, audio recording devices, microphones, camera lights, display screens, and other gear needed for DSLR video recording; textured real rubber hand grips add stability for hand-held shooting. Unique base design allows for unobstructed battery compartment and memory card access, guaranteed for Canon 5D, 7D, 60D, Nikon D7000, D3100, D5100, but basically compatible with all DSLR cameras; base plate slot screw is adjustable for camera balance adjustment (important with a zoom lens), with 1/4 inch x 20 thread for mounting to a video tripod. Includes 3 shoe mounts, 1 can be repositioned, and the end shoe mounts are removable, enabling 1/4 inch x 20 female screw thread mounting; 9 mounting holes in the top bar provide many mounting options. All sturdy lightweight aluminum construction; requires assembly, wrench is supplied; includes assembly instructions (see "Technical Specification" link below). This rig can also be used with small camcorders, where the camcorder is best mounted with the rig reversed so that the camcorder is positioned on the right side, allowing unimpeded swing of the LCD display; width is 11 inches, height 6.5 inches, depth 3 inches, camera clearance is 6 inches, weight is 1 pound 2 ounces; camera and audio equipment in images are shown for demonstration purposes only and are not included.

Sturdy and well designed

The ALZO Transformer DSLR setup is pretty good. I've only had it for a few days, but I knew right away that this thing was perfect for capturing video on my 7D. The designer of this DSLR cage definitely put a lot of thought into everything a videographer might need for a small production. You can attach up to three devices to the shoe mounts, perfect for monitor, light and microphone. If you need to install more things, you can always buy a bracket. Overall I am delighted with the build quality

Absolutely normal! c Accessories for tripods and monopods

Screw the bottom bracket tight enough so that the handles do not wobble when turning. Then screw on the cold shoe brackets on the left and right so that they are at the desired angle. Finally, tighten the screws on the bottom to complete the assembly. This gear is pretty good. I ordered an adapter plate for the Panasonic Lumix G7 as mounting it on this platform with the lens centered resulted in a slight offset. Great processing and function. Overall very impressed.

Bought only based on very positive feedback from others. The shots didn't look as polished or impressive as some other cage/rig DSLRs, but the reviews still convinced me to buy it. Very glad I did. Super durable construction. Very functional and well thought out with access to the battery compartment on cameras such as Canon and in my case Panasonic GH2.
