Pure Black Underglaze for Ceramics

I've tried other black underglazes but keep coming back to Amaco Velvet Underglazes for the great easy to apply colour.

a good thing! in Crafting

Good stuff! Use multiple coats for good coverage. Works better on cookie dishes than veggies. When I dipped it in the clear icing it dripped slightly. Now I post bake after the underglaze and before applying the clear glaze and working no more problem.

  • Looking forward to

Superb underglaze

I have used this black underglaze for many years and have never been disappointed with it or with Amaco's velvety underglaze. I like it so much I buy it by the pint to save money. Works well with or without frosting. I have used this particular color from cone 6 to cone 10 with good results.

My matte glaze (using G1214Z Matte Clear) doesn't always mix well with other underglazes (see: Amaco Velor Black.) He likes to make them pastel or bleeding. This underglaze goes well with my matte glaze, so I always have it in my studio. It stays dense and black as
