Not happy at all

I have been a potter for over 17 years and have always found a white stable wax and the glaze would wear off immediately where I applied the wax. This product is green in color and the glaze sticks to it. I have to use soapy water to remove the extra glaze from the wax or even microwave it to melt it a bit and remove it. Wondering if this product was packaged incorrectly. Not at all satisfied.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Something different

Very handy - Glaze

This product has a medium green tint that allows you to see where you have painted. It burns in the oven. The wax is fairly smooth and thick enough that it's difficult to spread. Instead it builds up a bit (then you can apply it to the desired thickness). This product comes in very handy as it not only makes a nice line on the bottom of your craft but also makes a fun raw tone design to contrast with your icing .

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Neutral

Suitable for Glaze

This is the best wax resist I have found other than hot wax. It sticks a little when painting, but I keep a cup of water and dish soap to clean my brushes from time to time and it works fine. I have used several other wax products and none hold up as well as this one. It's usually green - the color doesn't affect the products - and I prefer that color because it's easier to see where I've already waxed. **Keep the lid tightly closed or it will dry out**

Ordered light wax and got green one

returned unopened. I've tried this before and it's too flimsy and only fits the bottom of pots. I work with porcelain and use wax to coat the piece before painting to create the design. I've had occasional green spots on my cookie pan and not a single pot in the oven has used greens. It was also poorly packaged and not marked 'Do Not Freeze' - we've been experiencing freezing temperatures lately.

  • cool product

SOLID BLOCK of green wax floating in green liquid

SOLID BLOCK of wax preserved in liquid. Didn't expect it to turn green but that's ok I know it will burn in the oven. BUT it was RELIABLE. Sent back, replaced. STILL HARD. Sent it back for a refund. The label says PROTECTS AGAINST FREEZING; I am guessing it froze during the January cold snap. STILL.not @ all happy. I didn't want to waste time trying to MELT. At least the return process was easy. The first returned to Kohl; pass it on and you're done. The second went back via UPS; had to buy an…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Not sure

I did not receive the correct wax resist. I wanted white but got a watery green with a huge round piece in the middle. I haven't used it in my sculptures and definitely won't. I would like to return it but since it was for my studio at university I wrote my initials on the bottle with permanent marker. I thought I wouldn't care that it's green because sometimes it's better to know where to put it, but it turned out to be too watery, and as for that odd bit in the middle, for the most part of…

Poor manufacturer product and customer service

Bought a jar a few months ago and kept it indoors. When I opened the jar and mixed the contents, the wax resist looked perfectly normal. However, as soon as I started applying it with a brush, large lumps of wax formed on the surface of the porcelain. After five calls to Amaco and their empty promises to call back, tech support told me not to buy from their dealers. "We don't know how they store the product, so we can't guarantee the quality. Buy direct from us next time." And no, the…
