Better get one while you can.

VHS players/recorders are not really designed to rewind as the motor is actually designed for a slower recording or playback speed. The winder is designed to last for this higher speed. Protect your VHS motors from premature burnout with this Ambico rewinder. PS I have one that has been in use for 7 years but with a small VHS library I figured that with the obvious gradual transition from VHS to DVD format it would make sense to buy an extra one now.

Pros
  • VCR Rewinder
Cons
  • Obsolete

Better than I thought

I've shopped everywhere including pawnshops to find a VHS tape winder, since I have radios I don't want to prematurely kill the bearings in them. I searched and called etc for over 3 months. Eventually I decided to scout Revane again. I found a good seller with a good price and delivered to me. I made it over 2,000 miles in 1 week using regular USPS shipping. I ordered it because it was marked as "new". I received it and it was new. No damage, well packed in bubble wrap. I read the instructions

Worked great for three years, then broke

Mine broke after 3 years of moderate use. I believe this is commendable in today's cheap and replaceable world. In 2007 I bought a VCR to reduce wear and tear on my VCR. (I like to record TV shows from time to time, but I don't like recording for this DVD - old fashioned VHS tapes easily store 6 hours of material, DVDs only 2; rewinding VHS tapes on a VCR will sooner or later become the Rewind mechanism failed, so videotape needs to be rewound). This rewinder has rewound tapes better than Maryโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Accessories and consumables
Cons
  • There are even more interesting options.
