Works great with Weather Radios

This product works exactly as described! When charging, the radio and weather band work well. It charges the cell phone via the Universal Serial Bus port. It keeps the flashlight charged after a little twist by hand. I was surprised how long the flashlight lasted after a short run. I have this and http://www.amazon.com/American-Cross-CLIPRAY-Charger-Flashlight/dp/B003BYROUQ/ref=pd_sim_e_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=0C64F0F1T3AJ59NKZXZX for a crash kit.

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Works but outdated.

Looks functional. Two complaints: (1) Charging uses a USB 2.0 mini connector, not a 2.0 micro connector (like your Android phone and most other recent USB-charged devices). That means I have to keep another charging cable alongside my supplies. (2) No charge indicator which I know isn't expensive as even my budget unbranded USB power banks have basic LED charge indicators. Basically, the technology is years old and the design outdated. has not been updated. For maximum functionality I would…

Charges my iPhone. best in the weather radios

I chose the FRX2 because it can charge cell phones. I can confirm that it charges my iPhone 4s. Remember to turn the dial to the "CELL" position and turn off the radio and flashlight when you want to charge your phone. Charging takes some time/effort, but it works and it's certainly better than not having any charging solutions during emergencies or power outages. I haven't checked the radio but I haven't had any problems with FM or AM reception. and one of the weather channels. The flash isn't

Fine tuning of transmitters

I was very disappointed with the very fine tuning mechanism that can be knocked off the frequency with the slightest movement of the large knob. If your fingers are a normal size, they will most likely hit the grip when you turn the device on or off or adjust the volume! At almost full volume (which introduces distortion), the sound doesn't travel very far. I'd say mixed with the really mediocre sound quality in general, it can be disappointing when your listening environment has to keep up…

Okay, as a fallback to hide in place, but that's about it.

Looks cheap. I wouldn't want to put it in my car or backpack as it doesn't handle moisture well (as stated in the included instructions). I was looking for a radio tape recorder to hide in place of the backpack. Autonomous power supply and the ability to charge other devices. From what it says, let it run for 5 minutes and get 10 minutes of audio drama. WHAT? Only 10 minutes for a 5 minute run. Other radios from this manufacturer say you can run them for 90 seconds and get 20 minutes of…

I personally like the radio

Let me start by saying that finding an emergency radio on different websites is a lot harder than most other products you are looking for. Every radio I've come across has had such mixed reviews that in this class of emergency radio there's nothing that beats the rest. I will also say that this is my first time buying an emergency radio and I have no experience with any brand. At the same time my opinion on it: I personally like this radio. It has decent reception, the crank works well, the…
