Quick, easy fix! - Toilets and toilet parts

Success! The phantom flush was driving me insane, but between the upcoming holidays and self-isolation orders, I wasn't sure how I was going to handle a hardware store, plumber, or handyman. Revan to the rescue! Pulled out the old plate and put in a new one. Even 5 minutes of my time! And enjoy the "Silent Night" without this phantom flush. 😂 Based on the packaging, I doubt it's an OEM product. Looks like from the hardware store. But the price is right and it works, that's what matters. For…

Sometimes a great price is too good to be true!

I hired a plumber to replace a leaking toilet valve. The plumber gave me the gasket part number so I could order it and he installed it in my area on his next job. I found a great price and bought two seals from the AMAZON website. The plumber arrived today but he couldn't install the gasket. I was told that I ordered the correct part number but only the rubber part of the seal arrived. it was missing the brass threaded insert that had to be cast into the seal. Now I have to order another…

Please read well for toilet spares

Ok what I received is NOT what is shown in the advert. This is a slip-on disc, but the image in the ad has reinforcing rubber ribs that extend to the perimeter/edge of the disc. What I got was a slice where the edges did NOT go all the way to the rim. I'm not sure which design is the best and when I'll be using one of them, maybe one next week, but not sure about the other two. I bought three. Maybe this design is BETTER as it allows for more flexibility for a better seal? Just wanted people to

No more ghost washing!

The seat pane on my old American Standard toilet was badly warped causing a terrible ghost flush. We couldn't find an AS part locally, so instead we bought a red Everbilt seatpost made for AS at Home Depot. Although the design is identical and the phantom purge was less common, the leak has not been completely eliminated. After seeing this piece on Revain I decided to give it a try and I'm happy to say it worked! The $6 price tag is almost double the price of the drives at Home Depot, but I…

I tried others first. that's the buy. Manufactured by the manufacturer

That's what you need. This is the actual part of the American OEM standard. Soft, flexible rubber that seals perfectly. Precisely right weight to roll over properly and easily and not fall too soon. Just plugged into the actuator the old one was standing on. That's the one that "snaps in". I tried the ones made for this toilet by other manufacturers as they were stocked at the hardware store but these others never worked properly and soon failed (the others were rubbery and started to crack)…

A quick and inexpensive DIY solution!

American Standard has developed a toilet part that anyone can replace in minutes. No need to call/hire a plumber, it's a quick fix. My toilet sometimes sounded like water was running down the toilet without flushing. It happened infrequently and only lasted a second or two. I've been told that in some cases the damper/flush valve gets old and loses its shape causing water to run/leak into the toilet. Of course I felt the valve and found that it had lost its shape and was in terrible shape. I…

Before ordering, carefully check the design of your old phone

Attention! there are at least two possibilities. It has no threaded connection. If your original is identical to mine, it doesn't unscrew, so assume it's a snap-on version. Maybe it's *not* the snap-on version, it's the threaded version, and it's too corroded to unscrew. When I surgically opened mine I found a brass nut that was spinning in the plastic case when I tried to unscrew it. Your life will likely be a lot easier if you just order the version with the removable brass insert; this…
