Enhance Your Shower Experience with the American Standard 1660241.002 Modern Shower Arm in Polished Chrome Review

This is a shower arm, basically a corner tube with a thread on each end. There's nothing too complicated or magical about it. The brushed nickel plating looks nice and the threads are in good condition so I had no problems installing them. Works as it should.

Top Quality - Way, way above any shower fitting available at home centers but much cheaper than a plumbing salon. The finish is excellent, with a flawless and deep finish. The protective case is molded, not stamped, and has a rubber o-ring to keep it in place. The manufacturer's packaging was also very good; Each piece was individually wrapped and placed in a sturdy cardboard box.

For the price I expected a little worse quality than what I received. If you look at large cardboard stores, everything has a plastic or thin stamped metal rosette (rosette). This product appears to have a cast brass rosette that is held onto the lever by an O-ring. I say "looks like" because it's completely covered in metal and no underlying metal is visible. Well done, American Standard.

Very happy with this shower head (? - If the spout is the head, why aren't they called the neck?) The cleanliness, high gloss on this product is Excellent. The weight is amazing. The threads are perfect. The base is solid and has an amazing o-ring that keeps it firmly on your hand. I just apply some water and it keeps gliding, once it dries it stays in place. I wouldn't recommend oils.

Other reviews said it was a much better item than you can find at Lowes/Home Depot but I didn't think that was true on the outside spirit. The arm itself looks, feels and weighs about the same as the arm I received from Lowes. The big difference is in the fretboard, it's much heavier and nicer than the Lowes despite having a slightly smaller diameter. So who knows if it's better? I wanted to replace a problematic and cheap store bought shower head with a really good one that seals well. The problem is that the end of the pipe where the rubber gasket is located is quite flimsy and eventually the gasket will slip down the pipe and the connection will always leak. No amount of teflon tape or thread sealant would help much and for long. So I bought a more expensive branded model, thinking it would be well made enough to fit the rubber washer well.
