This game is the polar opposite of Bohnanza. Bohnanza has a cooperative element, you trade beans to improve your fields and probably also improve your opponent's fields, but in Excalibohn you actively attack your opponents. You can try to steal their gold or destroy it. The game just isn't interesting and the rules are poorly written.

I've played Bohnaza a lot and it's a great game. Excalib Bean, but a bit more concerned with using spells and beans. The addition of spells and their effects definitely makes the game more "interactive" (read: more directly affecting other players). Some call it mean, but that's just another word for forced.
