Description of Amprobe PM55A Multimeter Non Contact Detection

Digital multimeter measures alternating current (AC) voltage and direct current (DC) voltage to 600 volts (V), resistance to 6 megaohms, capacitance to 2,000 microfarads, frequency to 30 kilohertz (kHz), and AC and DC microcurrent to 2,000 microamp. Average-sensing meter provides accurate readings when measuring linear loads where the current or voltage has a sinusoidal waveform. Non-contact voltage detector senses AC voltage without making contact with the circuit. Meter measures 4.4 x 2.1 x 0.4 inches (H x W x D) and can be carried in a shirt pocket when not in use. Meets International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) safety standard 61010 and is certified for category II installations up to 600V and category III installations up to 300V. Safety: CAT II 600 V,CAT III 300 V,Pollution Degree 2, Class 2. AutoTect feature directs the meter to know if it is measuring ac or dc volts or resistance with no user interface. The AutoTect feature has lower input impedance which zeros out ghost voltages. Voltect feature is a built-in, non-contact voltage detector. Automatic Power Off.

Identical to Greenlee PDMM20

Compact autoranging multimeter. Reasonable Price $64/piece It is essentially the same product as the Greenlee Textron PDMM20 Multimeter. Identical functions and properties. However, you can find the PDMM20 for about $20 less. It would be helpful if one of the contact probes/wires were clip type for more convenient one-handed operation.

  • Great design

light and handy multimeter

I have many premium multimeters, most of them desktop or a few. It's tiny and easily fits in a shirt pocket and won't weigh you down. In most cases it does almost everything you need. Only complaint and to be honest I didn't read the instructions that came with it. There doesn't seem to be a way to set it to a specific range, and autoranging is slow compared to some of my other gauges. All factors are taken into account ie weight/height. I'm satisfied, it's very light and will most likely last…

  • slim design

  • no power

Not enough probes to test 120v outlets

I was so excited to get this Amprobe PM55A pocket multimeter with non-contact voltage detection. I carry about 40 pounds of tools in my backpack, which I carry with me all day since I don't have a service truck and have to walk around town. This should have been a great lightweight addition to my AV tools. How embarrassing when one day I complained about a customer's socket because the voltage was too low. I proved it with this meter which showed a low voltage. He turns on the lamp and it comes

The compact multimeter eventually failed.

Amprobe PM51A Pocket DMM Pros: Very small and thin, fits in a shirt pocket; with fixed exits. The smart, rotating black switch sits almost flush with the body, but rotates easily to select resistance, dc or ac volts, beeping continuity, capacitance, or frequency. Big numbers make it easier to read. Press the hold button and the screen will lock - disconnect the cables and read the meter reading. Cons: While it worked well for a few years with intermittent use, the accuracy eventually declined…

Accurate volts, pocket sized, rugged

Pros: Accurate to within 1% of my B&K at constant voltage, easy to read display, easy to use, solid body and construction, threaded brass insert and captive body screw ( wow !), turns on quickly enough and switches automatically. Cons: small battery. Pros: Tiny battery makes it small. Disadvantages: No current measurement. pro: no current measure to make it unsafe to do something stupid. Cons: no rubberized lid. pro: that makes it smaller. Cons: Simple fixed cables. Pros: you can't lose. Cons…

Digital Age for Electrical

I've been using an old analog multimeter from the radio store for two decades. This suction cup still works and has been very reliable over the years. So why did I buy a new digital one you ask? A new project has emerged that requires voltage measurement to the 10th decimal place. Unfortunately, this is an accuracy that my old counterpart cannot count on. Now let's move on to sample. The device makes a solid and well-made impression. It doesn't feel like it's cheaply made in China even though…

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
