Description of 🔬 AmScope T490B-DK Compound Trinocular Microscope: WF10x and WF20x Eyepieces, 40X-2000X Magnification, Brightfield/Darkfield, Halogen Illumination, Abbe Condenser, Double-Layer Mechanical Stage, Sliding Head, High-Resolution Optics

Trinocular compound microscope provides high magnification for biological use and educational applications. Trinocular viewing head with vertical camera mount and binocular mount with interchangeable pairs of 10x widefield and 20x widefield eyepieces and Siedentopf binocular head with 55 to 75mm interpupillary adjustment, fixed 30-degree vertical inclination to reduce eye and neck strain, and 360-degree rotation capability to provide a more comprehensive view and enable sharing. Forward-facing nosepiece with 4x, 10x, 40xS (spring), and 100xS (spring, oil) DIN achromatic precision-ground optical-glass objectives that provide color correction of magnified images. Brightfield/Darkfield, halogen illumination with rheostat to control light intensity, and 1.25 NA Abbe condenser with iris diaphragm and rack-and-pinion focus control for precise focus, clear examination, and light control. Double-layer mechanical stage with 1mm stage divisions and stage stop; graduated coarse and fine focus with tension control to prevent stage drift.

scope used? in Compound Microscopes

Microscope arrived quickly. Unfortunately it lacked a 100xs lens and clearly used a mechanical stage as it had several irreparable defects likely caused by corrosive reagents. I returned it. The microscope itself is very good for its price. The lenses I was able to test were clear, the Abbe condenser is a great light source although it heats up quickly, and the darkfield accessories worked as advertised. I would advise anyone buying an AmScope or any other brand of Revain microscope to inspect…

The microscope works well

This microscope works well. It's not as good as Nikon or Olympus microscopes, but it's not too far off the mark and is excellent value for money. The illumination of the light field is good, there are no problems with backlighting. Darkfield is a bit trickier, all settings should be fine. I would like cross-polarizing filters that give a better image of unstained bacteria than darkfield. 40x, 100x and 400x magnification provide excellent images. The 1000 and 1000x oils are somewhat limited due…

Very good for serious beginners and intermediates.

The quality is an order of magnitude higher than other models. The lenses are pretty generic, fit most cameras and look great. I use a large science chamber and needed to get a plan with goals. The trinocular focuser is virtually useless for objects larger than a few ounces. Once that's no longer a guarantee I plan on drilling a hole and tapping it for a small metric screw to hold the camera turret in place as it doesn't even have that. But so far I don't see a good way to fix the focuser. The…

Mind officially launched

I only bought this because of my renewed interest in biology and I could afford it. I spent a whole weekend looking at the water I got from the local lake and my brain just exploded. I am a hobby photographer and amateur astronomer. I need high quality optics. And it delivers. I wasn't prepared for how good it would be. I mainly use 4/0.1 and 10/0.25 lenses with a 10x eyepiece and detail and clarity is sharp, detailed and exceeds my expectations. If you get into a 40/0.65 and 100/1.25 lens…

This is a real microscope animal

Excellent microscope. It's easy to use, has excellent optics in eyepieces and lenses, and the two condensers that come with it are of decent quality. It was easy to add polarization for even more flexibility when viewing samples. The top camera mount tube (adapter sold separately) works great allowing you to capture both photos and videos. Given the price, I can't think of a reason to give it less than five stars. If it were twice the price I'd probably give it a star because it claims a 2000x…

The techie's best toy?

The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys. In terms of value for money, this is possibly the best toy for techies.PROS Impressive presentation. It's huge, 14-1/2 inches tall without a camera and nearly 20 inches tall with a compact digital camera attached to the trinocular port. With an SLR/DSLR camera it would be slightly larger. Well built with a really solid feel to everything. Movable knobs such as focus knobs, condenser position knobs, and stage position knobs…

  • Not only useful for its intended purpose
Cons
  • There are disadvantages
