This is a real microscope animal

Excellent microscope. It's easy to use, has excellent optics in eyepieces and lenses, and the two condensers that come with it are of decent quality. It was easy to add polarization for even more flexibility when viewing samples. The top camera mount tube (adapter sold separately) works great allowing you to capture both photos and videos. Given the price, I can't think of a reason to give it less than five stars. If it were twice the price I'd probably give it a star because it claims a 2000x magnification, while 1000-1200x is the maximum real (i.e. usable) magnification that a microscope can achieve when using light in the visible spectrum can offer. Anything beyond that only further increases those zoom limits and the problems associated with maximizing them. This is a reliable, capable microscope with great overall quality, especially at this price point. I can also recommend it without hesitation for use in science lessons in schools.
