Compact 3W power amplifier for playing at home and in small spaces. Perfectly complements AMT Electronics SS and Legend Amps series guitar preamps. When creating a lightweight and compact TUBECAKE-3W amplifier, AMT Electronics focused primarily on reproducing the main features of a tube power amplifier based on a semiconductor element base in the absence of disadvantages characteristic of tube devices: high cost, large dimensions and weight, the need for periodic lamp replacement (up to 2- x times a year). The most characteristic features that make the sound of tube amplifiers exactly tube, are carefully worked out by the company''s engineers in TUBECAKE-3W. The output impedance of the TUBECAKE-3W is comparable to the load. This output impedance, combined with the frequency-dependent impedance of the guitar speaker, produces the “correct” frequency response for a guitar amplifier. TUBECAKE-3W has a smooth transition from linear to amplitude-limited mode with low harmonics dominating the spectrum. Despite the low power, the TUBECAKE-3W has a large dynamic range, since the amplitude clipping, like tube amplifiers, is not as noticeable at full power. Such an amplifier can be used in cases where high power is not required, but a specific load characteristic of a tube end amplifier is needed: for home music making, guitar recording at home and for playing in small clubs. TUBECAKE-3W solves this problem by nicely loading the sound and keeping it natural. The amplifier has the “Volume” and “Presence” controls standard for a tube guitar amplifier, as well as the “DEPTH” (aka “Resonance”) control used in many models, which controls the frequency response in the low-frequency region.
