Removing the factory pin improved the look of my Gladiator. This antenna can easily be used as a direct replacement. Be sure to wrap the base with a rag during installation and tighten with channel locks or pliers. A hard hand will not give you a good reception. This antenna works just as well as the factory one from the moment it was installed.
