I knew I would sacrifice reception but didn't think it would be that bad. I'm in the San Diego area and normal outdoor driving was fine, but lost signal when between buildings or next to raised structures. I wanted a shorter unit so it wouldn't hit my tube, but the stock length comes back.

A whip antenna is never a good idea. I had to control my impulse to buy it. Auto engineers are smart people. There's a reason they install long antennas for good reception. This short antenna doesn't give me good reception even if I live in the suburbs of a very big city.

Arrived promptly Thanks Prime! 1 minute setup, including receiving a wrench from the toolbox and HELLO radio station! Living day and night differently than with a short antenna that a clown installed on an FJ Cruiser I recently bought with mileage. Now, before I sat down for reception, all my favorite stations can be heard loud and clear. Brilliant.

After using the factory antenna on our FJ Cruiser for 10 years we have decided to replace it. My concern was that the replacement parts there would be worse than the factory long style. After some research we bought this antenna and came to the conclusion that the antenna is just as good or better in terms of reception. It definitely looks better and makes cleaning the windshield a lot easier. I highly recommend this model.

Update 08/23/2019: The seller contacted me about the original 6" order and exchanged it for a 17" for free, hoping for a better reception . Unfortunately, my experience has not changed. The antenna just isn't as good as my original one where I live and it won't work. Looks great but doesn't seem to work as well as the original antenna. I hope they let me come back.

Purchased to replace the damaged factory antenna on my beloved '08 FJ Cruiser. Screwed straight on, hand tightened, got ALL my radios back with Pioneer's new improved head unit with Apple Car Play etc. Crystal clear sound quality. Also receives track titles, artist names, etc. Nice and strong antenna with enough flexibility. Should probably be removed before each wash. Less effort for superior performance. Many Thanks.

I've searched through many short antennas for my 2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser and finally landed on another copper clad antenna that claimed to have better reception.
