so easy to use, with practice you can get whole flesh from pecans

extra strong, conical cup makes the cracker self-adjusting for small and large pecans. I grew up in Texas with over 10 walnut trees on our property and have seen every type of cracker there is. This is by far the best design and easiest to use. I've seen other reviews saying kids can use them and they're right. My 4 and 6 year old granddaughters would spend hours cracking open pecans that they picked themselves and they love them so much. I will buy more for Christmas gifts.

Pros
  • So far satisfied
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

So easy for a 2 year old to use!

My parents went on a trip and brought a bag of pecans and other nuts. Not wanting to go the Hammer route, I went shopping for Nutcrackers. First of all, the thing just looks beautiful! Sounds weird when you talk about a nutcracker, but it's actually a well made little device, well polished and the wooden handle looks great. Several people commented how beautiful it was when they saw it. It was pretty cheap and I imagine it will last a lifetime. Functionally, cracking a nut is easy with this…

Pros
  • Positives Only
Cons
  • No Form Required

Looks great (I have the full metal version) and seems well made. This works very well - for walnuts and pecans. It goes great with most hazelnuts and I was impressed with it for a while because I love hazelnuts. But then I found that it doesn't work if they aren't a specific size. Anything smaller than this size is completely useless. Then almonds. There will be no scratches on them. I've even tried laying them lengthwise in the cracker chamber, but they just don't stay in that position long…

  • Well built

  • Infinitely slow

Mandatory for pecans

I have several large pecan trees in my yard. They released more pecans this year than I've ever seen. I used a hammer to pry them open but decided to give this tool a try. It's really very easy to use! I just put a pecan in and squeeze the handle once to crack it, then flip it over and squeeze the other end once (or twice). I would say that about 90% of the pecans remain intact (whole). My pecans don't spoil and I can shell about 1 or 2 pounds in an hour. I'm just sitting here with a little…

Recommended with reservations

The 'bowl' area is serrated on the inside to hold the nut in place when cracking. Keep a close eye on those teeth because they will break and end up with your cracked nuts. I've been cracking a few nuts lately, including pecans, walnuts, and Brazil nuts. The nuts were relatively easy to separate from the shell. Some nuts are just hard to crack. My fear of this cracker came as I turned it over to empty the nuts and shells into my hand, but I also noticed little black things in my hand. The…

Whole nuts on EVERY try!

So I bought this product thinking that if it didn't work I could always buy the cheaper crackers/patties that my family had used their whole lives (and long before that). I tried it on a whole nut mix - pecans, walnuts, almonds, Brazil nuts and hazelnuts. Well I can say I didn't need pickaxes or other crackers as that was how the nuts came out whole. My 8 year old daughter was able to crack all the nuts with ease. My only complaint is that nuts are actually TOO easy to crack open and I (kinda?)
