Good radio best radio

I already had 2 others and bought a 3rd one because they work very well. Now and then small glitches, but everything is fixable.

Cross Band Repeater

The device transmits clearly and I get compliments from other radio amateurs. Many features are available that are found in other expensive radios. The cross repeater is useful when you want to use more power from your base or mobile antenna during a call.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Exchange availability

Great radio so I have 2 of these

This is my second AT-5888UV. My first was my mobile setup and base station. I always switched it between my truck and my HAM cabin. So I bought another one and this one will be dedicated to my base station and the other one will stay in the truck. The reason for buying another AT-5888 was standardization. I use the same radio for both without having to learn a different platform. It's a damn good radio and well worth the money.

Pros
  • Everything great!
Cons
  • Little things

The radio is pretty much useless.

First I successfully set up this radio to communicate with the local repeater. I set frequency, offset, CTCSS and 107.2. It connects. Sounds good. However, the settings have to be re-entered every time I turn off the radio. I adjusted the CHANNEL FUNCTION AUTO STORAGE setting in both directions with the same result. I lose settings. Other radios I use CHIRP for radio programming. My Apple MacBook Air is working on the search. However, Anytone Mac does not recognize the USB programming cableโ€ฆ

1st impression, updated

1st impression: This thing is cool. 0 programming problems with chirp. If you use at home, you need a power supply of at least 12A. If you can program the Baofeng HT, you can also program this. Can scan two frequencies at the same time and also receive 2 at the same time. I'll update when I use it more often, but I'm happy so far. I was also able to program the gmrs frequency without any problems. It seems like some versions of this radio are factory locked. The 2nd update was a month long forโ€ฆ

220? No, that is not so. this is UV III model number

220 setting required but fair warning 5888UV does not transmit to 220 only receives. The 5888UVIII is the 1.25m version. I'm usually a Yaesu guy so I didn't get it. This will be the first and last Chinese radio I will buy. But for a dual band radio station 2m 70cm the quality seems quite good. Although this radio does not fully meet my expectations, it is my fault that I did not get it. Same model number but all in version 3 for tri-band operation. And I needed that. I've had good reports on my

Excellent quality in Anytone 5888UV!

I love my Anytone 5888uv. I use it as a true mobile setup in my car, paired with a Diamond NR770 NMO antenna (about 4ft tall) with a Diamond NMO trunk for luggage security. Under the right conditions, I can speak simplex at full power to people up to 50 miles away. The mid1 and mid2 power settings are great for hitting repeaters within 35 miles or so, depending on the repeater. There's still a lot of analogue activity out there. The only thing missing is DMR operations, but you add a lot to the
