A good mount for law-abiding drivers

The mount is nice and strong. I wish it was spring loaded somehow to keep the plate in a positive position when the winch is used. But it's not folded down yet, so it's probably nothing to worry about. The hardware is good.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Some cons

I've been tricked! suitable for outdoor accessories

I need this so that the license plate can be attached to the front bumper as required by Texas law. I had to ask for help as it was difficult to assemble. When the plate is in place, the frame also tends to hang at a slight angle to the car.

Pros
  • very good price
Cons
  • long delivery time

You should replace the cheap hardware

Powder coating is good but the holes are too big for the hardware which is the cheapest junk anyway. I swapped everything out prior to installation. I think I used 1/4" screws that fit without drilling. I think it's a good value for the money. It doesn't work with roller guides, just guide guides!

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Well made except: Frame

License plate mount pivots up and out of the way to allow use of the winch cable. Great idea and well built. The "however" is that if you rotate the license plate piece up, it hits the bumper to the point where it rubs more than it should unless you grind it a bit. We took a dremel and rounded off the part that touched so it didn't hit the bumper and damage the powder coated bumper. No big deal, and cover the rounded corners with nail polish. I would buy this again. Excellent price.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Perfect for Smittybilt fairlead and Factor 55 flat link

This is a great alternative to a front license plate when using a Smittybilt X20 winch which has a lip on top of the fairlead. The mount has an open top that snaps onto the fairlead and secures through standard holes behind the fairleads. I actually got to test it out in Moab two days later and am happy to report that it protected my expensive Factor55 flat link when I jammed the front end against a rock on the trail. My license plate was badly cracked and this bracket held in place. For the…

Pros
  • Perfect for small houses
Cons
  • No automatic

A good product. Is working. Looks good. Expensive

<edit> A year or more and the item still holds up, but there is one big problem. The seller says it's stainless steel, but that's clearly not the case for the articulated hardware. Mine are all rusty and look awful. The stainless steel claim clearly does not apply to the hinge fittings. Such a shame. I subtracted a few stars for this as the stainless hardware would prevent the stainless steel screws from being cheap enough not to affect the price. A short-sighted decision by the…
