Summer Infant Banister Universal Mounting Review

In my research, this was the only gate adapter I could find that would allow the gate to be installed between two non-parallel railings (see photo). Easy installation and very durable after installation.

Couldn't find one that works with wrought iron rails so used zip ties here. I think any tree will do in this case, but I don't like returning items. DISCLAIMER If you try this, make sure the zip ties secure the tree on both sides to keep it in place. Also check them from time to time to ensure safety. This is just to keep my toddler from going upstairs. I wouldn't recommend using this for a top of the stair solution.

So this product didn't work in our situation. We have wide strides. I bought a very large trellis for the base of our stairs and this product is meant to work together. Unfortunately, not all parts worked for the bottom of our steps. However, the reason I'm giving it three stars is because we ended up using the zip ties that came with the product and they worked great. But remember this won't work unless you use thick end railings (I've tried using small ones).

Just installed but this product works great. Used it at the bottom of the stairs where we have the railing. Bought Summer Infant's white metal gates to use with it. The gate works for the angel, which is necessary given my stairs. See photo. Installing gates and railings was not difficult. Our railing has a square bottom and a round top, this kit includes the necessary hardware. Sufficient fittings for 2 railings included. I only needed one, the second one will come in handy one day.

Each strap is approximately 19 inches long and needs to overlap slightly for it to snap into place. The limitation is probably the 4" square railing as you also have to install the hardware from the kit. Obviously they should promote this key information as I almost want to rate the product 2 stars for lacking such basic details. I didn't like that it didn't require gluing something to the railing to keep it from moving. It only states that it attaches to straps and includes straps that I found too tight to tighten enough to prevent movement. I ended up using old zip ties from other gates I used that were velcro and fabric and I was able to tighten them without gluing anything to the wood. I bought this to attach a gate to a metal post. Protecting the baby gate can take quite a long time. This product does not necessarily reduce installation time or improve installation stability. On a round stand, the base is likely to rotate slowly. This can be quite dangerous because it can be safe for a few days or weeks and then suddenly fail because it just weakens. We have a summer children's railing for children's gate rails, model 07180D, and we have lost the plastic braces that attach the vertical bar to the railing.
