🔒 Enhanced Trailer Security: AP Products (013-534), White Keyed Trailer Lock Review

Perfect replacement for a broken lock cylinder on my RV. The solid construction and lock position indicator is a really nice touch. My old lock was desperately missing more than a few times when I closed a door with the lock in the wrong position and found myself wading through the vault door to open it.

This lock was tacky to begin with. The key hung in the slot and only worked after some wobbling. Lubricating didn't help. The black inner handle is plastic and doesn't feel strong enough. I returned the lock for a refund and bought a Fastec lock instead. It works much better and has a metal handle inside.

Fits our 2002 Palomino caravan. I had to use a file to open up the hole in the door and adjust the hole. Good quality runs smoothly. Keys work well and have ordered additional keys with key number from another source for a dollar or so each. 5 stars if it were without the extra work, but I would buy it again even knowing I may need an extra adjustment.

I bought this lock to replace the original trailer door lock on wheels when the keys broke. Overall, the quality of this replacement is good with a few exceptions. First, the inner plastic latch seems strong enough, but the latch gets sticky at times, and I'd be lying if I said I'm not worried about the plastic lever eventually breaking. Also, the keys are very thin and the lock cylinders could be smoother, which also worries me a bit. Fixing screws for the striker are very cheap, because one…

This lock is not a good product, it WILL lock you in your van with no way out. just open for them. It's ironic that if you lift the lever to release the latch, if you pull it more than a quarter of an inch it releases two latches and still locks you in to release them, except outside without a key. It's like the burglar inside is trying to steal your stuff and then he's trying to escape quickly thinking he'll just pull the lever and snatch the lock and he's stuck inside until the police or…
