Even if cheaper than OEM it's still very bad Plastic worm gear breaks in the same place as OEM, didn't last 6 months and of course a lot less than 12,000 miles. Ordered two as I need a replacement Too bad the broken part wasn't brass or even lead would be more reliable than cheap plastic Huge disappointment

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Communication with seller

Great price and great replacement

Perfect for 2011 Tiguan. You will need special wrenches to unscrew the 2 screws holding the latch, Triple Square Spline, size M8. This isn't a typical 6-point torx, it's a 12-point star. I found a set at O'Reiley's for $5.99, but Revain has good sets, albeit more expensive. There is a helpful video on removing the plastic panels to access the latch. Search for "Remove VW TIGUAN tailgate panel"

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • Small

As advertised I bought some tools with it and there are videos online for idiots like me who can't turn a wrench. Total installation and testing time is around 15-20 minutes. And I don't know much about cars. Give it a try and the tools, highly recommended. Looks and acts (so far) the same as the $200+ equivalent stamped with VW part numbers. We'll see how that goes, although that's undecided yet. Summary, quick and easy installation and verification, everything works right away.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • long shipping

I bought this latch to replace a broken one on my wife's 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan I went straight to the installation. Installation takes only a minute and fits just as well as the original part. I had to make slight adjustments to the hook on the body that engages the latch, but it only took a second to loosen and tighten two screws. I gave it 5 stars because the quality of the part is as good as a factory latch and it's only $30. The dealer wanted more than a hundred, and German online parts…

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • Negative gift

Worked perfectly on a 2013 VW Jetta for exactly 30 days.

Worked perfectly on the 2013 VW Jetta for exactly 30 days and then stopped working. When I press the trunk release button, all I hear is the sound of gears whirring and nothing else. I had to climb over the seat to use the emergency release mechanism to open my trunk. On 7th November 2017 the replacement lock they sent me worked for 3 weeks then failed like the first one, tried to open the back door and all I hear is the lock spinning. Plastic cogs in there, when I opened it the plastic teeth…

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Concerns me
