Description of ๐ŸŒŠ Aquarium Water Test Kit - API Carbonate Hardness Test Kit

Contains one (1) API CARBONATE HARDNESS TEST KIT Aquarium Water Test Kit, including 1 bottle of testing solution, 1 color card and 1 glass test tube with cap. Helps monitor water quality and prevent invisible water problems that can be harmful to fish and plants and cause fish loss. Accurately measures carbonate hardness in freshwater and saltwater aquariums. KH (Carbonate Hardness) stabilizes aquarium pH. Use weekly for monitoring and when water or fish problems appear.

Super simple test, easy to read.

The test changes from blue to yellow when you finish, it's easy to read. Not just any color comparison with a scale that everyone gets wrong. However, if you have a really low dkh, like 2 or less. It can be a bit difficult to get an exact value as each decimal equals 1 drop and fractions of a drop are virtually impossible.

Pros
  • Same as everything before
Cons
  • Some disadvantages

KH, Calcium: I can't say much about the accuracy

API test suites are usually the simplest test suites. I ended up getting the Red Sea KH test set and finishing with a point difference. The difference in calcium levels was 50 ppm (Red Sea below range). As long as you do water changes with quality salt, you don't have to worry too much about the parameters.

Pros
  • Beautiful
Cons
  • Almost everything available

Works very well BUT I misread the instructions.

Works very well BUT I misread the instructions so I thought my dhc was very high (but it was actually low) so I "lowered" it further and it became so low that my reef crashed. So be very careful. Luckily I have a new riff and now I know how to test it properly! How to check: 1 drop = 1 dkh 2 drops = 2 dkh and so on. Add more drops until the blue turns yellow. Count each drop and say if you add 9 drops it is 9 dkh.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Expensive

The API test cases are pretty accurate

These test cases may be considered entry level test cases by some hobbyists, but for the most part they are good enough. They make it quick and easy to get readings and move on. If you need digital reading, there are some that are expensive. It's just that the regent needed to run a digital test is more expensive than an API test kit. You'd better use an API test suite and run an ICP test periodically depending on your budget. You can do this annually, annually or quarterly.

Easy to use endurance test kit

Great and easy to use kit. The test method is simple: put drops in a glass and the water will turn yellow. Gradually add drops, turning the jar (with the lid tightly closed) between drops until the water turns blue. If that happens, you're done. The number of drops required to turn blue is checked against the attached chart to determine your hardness. Tip: If you are doing multiple tests in beakers, take a 100 mL syringe and attach an air tube to the end. So you can fill the syringe with aboutโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Dope ๐Ÿ”ฅ
Cons
  • Not the best

A must have test kit for any aquarium owner

I love all API products. Their test kits are easy to use and calibrated to use the same amount of water in the sample tubes. This is very convenient as you don't have to keep track of which tube goes with which test reagent. Some pet stores don't usually have carbonate hardness test kits, but this is a very important water quality parameter. Sufficient carbonate in the aquarium water is also a great help for fish species that are not choosy about the water hardness in order to prevent the water

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • No form required

Ideal for measuring alkalinity!

I first purchased the API Freshwater Master Kit and used it for many years before transitioning to the marine side of the hobby. I then bought a saltwater master kit (which I don't think was any different from the freshwater kit except for the results chart) and used it for over a year, testing my settings whenever I saw fit. Once you have an aquarium set up, the need for parameter checking is greatly reduced. Luckily. However, once I started adding corals to my aquarium, I started readingโ€ฆ
