Probable cause of fish kills.

I think that killed my beta fish. The last year in our aquarium he felt fine. After we switched to this, our beta developed fin rot very quickly and declined quickly. Very sad about this as he used to be super healthy and energetic and after that he just started lying on the bottom of the aquarium. We've done regular water changes and cleaned the tank thoroughly (a lot of pink slime formed after the change) and followed the directions on the box to no avail. Poor fish :(

Why not just sell ONE product and make it work for everyone?

Fluval uses the same media size for many different things, but they're all priced differently depending on what's on the box. It's the same for Spec Series tanks and AC30 filters, but they're all priced differently. This one was the cheapest and worked exactly the same. I'm amazed by this marketing strategy, but not surprised. However, it works great. I usually throw them away and just get another filter and need a backup when it's time to change it.

Great for low performance filters

I bought this filter to add some biofiltration to the AZOO Mignon 60 filter This filter is very small and does not have room for filter media. This Aquaclear Biomax is actually too big to fit in an AA filter, but the mesh bag that contains the biocarrier is easy to cut so I just put the biocarrier in the smaller mesh bag. The environment itself is great. Very small cylindrical pieces of ceramic with a large surface area to stimulate the growth of beneficial bacteria. The small size of the…

Not enough in the box but still contains bacteria just get it

This product isn't much for a 20 gallon tank I bought this for my 5 gallon system but I also have bio Beads to help with bacterial load. If you're considering this for an aquarium, fine, but remember that the more surface area the better, so get three or four boxes for a larger tank. For my 5 gallon rig system I'm building I use this plus two bags of biobeads plus lots of bacteria. I also use Seiryu stones in my tank to grow bacteria on them. Use the Fluval Biological Accelerator to speed up…

Perfect replacement for Fluval Edge filters

We have had our 6 gallon Fluval Edge system for over a year now. When it came time to replace the filter media, our local pet supply store didn't stock replacement Edge filters. Knowing that Fluval and AquaClear belong to the same parent company, I discovered that the Edge filter is a rebranded copy of the AquaClear 20 filter. I confirmed this information by looking at several aquarium fan blogs. I have ordered all of the replacement filter media (sponge, carbon and biomax) and can confirm that
