8% useless, the rest pumice stone

On arrival, most of the stone was pumice stone and 9 stones were other non-porous stones. The total weight of the non-porous rock was about 80 grams, which means that 8% of this product is unusable. The stone cleans well and will not crack or break when heated at 450F for 1 hour. Overall, this is a decent carrier with a good finish. Note that some of these rocks will float for a while, so don't plan on using them in places where they can float away or get stuck in pumps etc.

Pros
  • Quick change
Cons
  • No paint needed

I've had trouble maintaining a good cycle even with seeds

Helped stabilize my 3 month old reef. I've had trouble maintaining a good cycle, even with inoculum. After 2 months the aquarium is very mature with these stones and I only removed all the sand and exposed the bottom 2 weeks ago. No spikes in any way. I'll be making a jug of salt water soon to take the medium sized bag they're in and rinse vigorously to remove all material, although I only have traces of nitrate. I think if I flush the bag every 2 or 3 months or so when cleaning the sump and PS

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • I'll write back later

I wish I had found this sooner.

Amazing! I have been dealing with cloudy/smelly water in a turtle tank for over a year. I've tried many different filter media and have enough filters to clean over 100 gallons - I only have a 40 gallon tank. This product works as advertised! When the "rocks" arrived, I soaked them in aquarium water for two hours. I then replaced the current filter material with these stones. A day later the water was still cloudy (I'm an impatient person) so I did a 100% water change. I have had crystal clear…

So far so good, I find it on par with EHEIM.

So far so good, I find it on par with overpriced EHEIM media. I use it in a homemade corner filter and this is just the beginning but when I look at it and feel it gives me good vibes. The price is at a good level for the quality of the product. Time will tell, but it looks like this material will make an excellent surface for bioballs and the like. For now I can say it's worth the price and seems to match the description they gave. Every Aqua Arts product I have ordered to date has helped me…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Previous model

Interesting Facts - Aquarium Pumps & Filters

It's been a saga of orders, order cancellations, backorders and still laggards. What to do with the corpse?! I ordered this from Aquatic Arts upon request, I have never used the product before. Due to delays it had to arrive late for the scheduled installation so I canceled my original order and placed a new order to be delivered the day before needed. Well, life was what it was, after all it was shipped by Aquatic Arts anyway and arrived a day late. My guess is that the product Revain ordered…
