There is no “calm river” here.

This filter was quiet and lasted about 2 weeks before it started making an annoying noise in the engine. The buzzing persists even after the filter box has been cleaned several times. I'm switching to a sponge filter. If you don't care about noise, it will filter your water, but no more.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Fits

Works great but needs to be replaced often

I use the 3rd filter. They're silent for a week or two, then not so much. After a few months the flow starts to drop (despite cleaning and replacing the cartridges) to the point where I have so little circulation that I have to replace the entire unit. Great for shrimp while you work, but be prepared to replace them with ridiculous frequency.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Minor issues

Wrong item delivered twice in a row

I paid and wanted an Aqueon Quietflow inner shrimp filter but twice received the wrong product as a replacement. I have received Lee's Sample Containers twice in separate batches and both boxes clearly state they are SAMPLE CONTAINERS but someone mistakenly added a label saying it was an Aqueon Quiet Flow Filter. Big difference between a filter and just a plastic container.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Useless features

It's a really good filter

I bought one from LFS and it's a really good filter. I added new foam and a pre-filter, threw away the carbon filter and filled the middle with filament. My pool has never been cleaner. If you're looking for some flow for a planted shrimp tank and a decent filter, this is it. The filter is noisy at first, some petroleum jelly will fix it. The pump is easily removed through the top of the filter. It's a basket in a basket with a pump on the bottom. Pretty neat design.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • boring packaging

Great filter for babies!

I bought this in my LFS about 6 months ago and have used it intermittently in my small tanks when I have had very small guppy fry (or other fry) from other tanks. SO CALM. It's like I don't have a filter at all. I usually only use sponge filters (and air pumps, even my Aqueon Quiet Flow air pump makes significant noise) but I like to add this filter to give a little "polishing" and some water movement. I think what I like best about this filter is the inlet sponge that prevents small creatures…

Amazing when it ain't broke

I like the filter WHEN IT WORKS. I got it, followed my instructions, plugged it in and bam it worked amazing. Well, after about 2 hours I go to check because the filter is very quiet and the water doesn't circulate. I picked it up and it rattled. The bottom part that this filter is in, EVERYTHING in it fell out so I had to use it to assemble it myself which wasn't easy considering it's a VERY small hole and some of the parts were too big to actually fall out so when assembled they were just…

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
