Description of 🔧 ARES 70040-1/4-Inch Drive Close Quarter Micro Bit Ratchet: High Torque Mini Screwdriver with 72-Tooth Gearhead

SPECIFICATIONS: This micro bit ratchet (mini screwdriver) was originally designed for automotive use in today's increasingly compact engines. The 72-tooth ratchet is perfect for tight spaces and needs only 5 Degree sweep, while the high-strength Chrome Vanadium steel handle and Chrome Moly steel ratchet gear provide 43ft/lbs of torque. The spring loaded detent ball ensures your bit won’t drop, and this set also includes ph1, ph2, Slotted 1/4-inch, Slotted 3/16-inch, T-15,T-20,R1, and R2. QUALITY: The head of the ratchet is only .83 inches wide. Fine tooth ratcheting is required for close quarters and with only 5 Degree sweep, that is exactly what you get. Lower quality options use a lower tooth count and higher degree sweep which may add to the frustration when working in a confined space. COMMON APPLICATIONS: This low profile bit ratchet is unbeatable for anyone that works on equipment with hard to reach fasteners like engines, electronics, household appliances, electrical, industrial machines, aerospace, Steinway pianos, weapons, applications that require fine calibration, medical and dental equipment, sound and lighting equipment, door handles, and more. RELIABLE | EFFECTIVE | EFFICIENT: Users trust ARES to be quality tools. You are backed by our Performance Assurance Limited Lifetime Warranty. Small but very useful

This is one of my favorite 1/4 hex bit ratchets. It is very small and has a thin head. With this ratchet I can also get into hard-to-reach places. And if I connect an extension to the other end I can have more leverage if needed. Excellent price. For EDC, it fits in an Altoids tin. I've also included some of the other popular 1/4 hex ratchets in the photo so you can see how they stack up. -Steve

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Pretty much everything is fine

Good size but moves backwards

Bought this ratchet for making commercial glass door hardware due to its small size. (Didn't test the bits) Used it for the first time today and found it folds back fairly easily with use. On the plus side, it has plenty of teeth for tight spots, and the bit is close to the edge for areas where the fastener is close to the wall. The quality/feel is good, just wish it didn't slip out of the mechanism so easily.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Expensive

Great for carrying in my pocket

I use it as something to carry in my pocket or on my belt every day for when something happens - which it often does. Was looking for a ratchet with bit holder to replace my T*peak (stolen) and this is even better. The quality and design are great and the price is good for what you get. The ergonomics are good for my medium sized hands. When I need more leverage, I carry a long screwdriver that does double duty. It's definitely much more than a gimmick, although obviously it's not going to be…

Great little concept and nice tool

I get complaints from some naysayers about this tool. It's very small and a bit bulky. The ratchet direction selector is plastic and can be reversed in certain situations. But for the money, for the light use I need it for, it's great. The build quality is actually better than I expected - the tool is a pretty good weight - it feels solid. The bits engage with a full click and do not slip. The parts that come with the tool are even reasonably good (I expected them to be disposable). To toss it…

Not perfect, but very pretty!

This is a very convenient size and the position of the double barbs is very convenient. In most cases all you need is a screwdriver-like mode, but it's great that the extra torque of the ratchet is available. I'd rather include a 1/4" socket instead of two nearly useless square drives. I can't even remember the last time I saw a square head screw. My only real complaint is that the indicators CLEARLY state that the bit holder is magnetic, but none of mine are even slightly magnetic. Both hold…

Great time saver, will it last?

The size makes this ratchet very convenient. On standard sized bits it measures 1 inch from the tip to the back of the ratchet so it can really get into those hard to reach places. I only question the build quality, the ratchet is on the tight side when freely rotating which can result in the fastener being screwed back and forth with no ratcheting action given its very tight design and the fasteners you will be using it on , are going to be fairly small, so easier free spins would be more…

  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Not the best

Exactly what I needed at a very reasonable price.

I love Topeak Tools. But their baby ratchet is a bit pricey. I needed something thin enough to get into very small areas but still able to hold a hex and ideally a ratchet. I used a quarter inch half round wrench and just held the bit with my hand and it was very tiring. This thing has a very interesting design where the bit extends to the back of the ratchet, similar to the crescent wrench method. , actually adds no depth to the descriptor. It's slightly thicker than a small wrench, but its…

I really want to like it more.

Dear Sir or Madam. The finish is better than average. I really like the design, but I'm not sure about the execution. Shouldn't have made the rotary switch out of plastic. Also, the switch toggles unintentionally when a full palm is used to operate. Some hesitation. Wears great. If it's still intact after a month in the bag I'll add a star. UPDATE 4/16: I've been wearing this little guy 5 days a week for a month. Can be carried in the pocket very well. It takes up less space and stays out of…
