I keep buying them, they are addicting!

Sauerkraut makes about two heads of cabbage. We have about 6 of them running at all times fermenting everything from chili peppers to apple cider. The wide opening makes them easy to clean and won't get your hand caught in them. They look pretty stuffed with bubbly veggies.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • No insurance

The seller did not pack well, the glass has a deep cut on the bottom

The glass came without a seal on the bottom while it was in the shipping carton. Around it was a thin piece of bubble wrap. There is a deep groove on the bottom where the two sides have been joined and it looks and feels like a tear on the outside but not the inside. I worry that the outer crack will eventually go all the way. Bad quality, cheap stuff.

  • Excellently made

Why put a label on a plastic lid

Somehow the creators thought it would be a great idea to put a barcode sticker on a plastic lid with a very strong glue. It is almost impossible to remove these residues. So if you're using this for any type of preservation, food, or laboratory container, it's currently impossible to disinfect. If you need a label, stick it on the glass where it will be easier to remove and all the glue.

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • Not bad

Suitable for brewing kombucha

I'm still giving this review 5 stars as I mostly only use the jar for kombucha brewing (and I cover the jar with cheesecloth instead of a lid which was provided with something) . For what I need it for, it does exactly what I hope it will. The lid is pretty cheap plastic stuff with one of those styrofoam inserts inside - so I wouldn't really say the lid is high quality. It all depends on what you use it for. But for me, since I don't use a lid, it's perfect.

  • Certified
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than others

Made in the USA and a good quality glass!

I've searched the internet for a glass jar that's made in the USA, NOT China or Mexico. I have 3 of these jars and they are good quality and perfect for brewing kombucha. Nothing beats cheap imported cans from the dollar store. I noticed that some people have complained about cracked plastic lids. It's nice to see that the company has taken note of the issue. All three cans were wrapped in 3-4 layers of bubble wrap in 2 separate orders. Needless to say I am very satisfied with this product!

Thin, weak glass for home brewing and winemaking

Update: I've been using the jar to make cold coffee for a year. Today I got a cold glass from the fridge, the bottom was a bit dirty, my wife washed it in the sink. As you might have guessed, the hot water broke the glass. There was a large bowl next to her and she saved the dripping coffee. Then the whole floor fell off! Creepy! Buy a tempered glass jar. We have treated it very carefully to ensure it lasts so long. Original rating, 3 stars: Glass arrived quickly and as advertised. In it weโ€ฆ

Perfect for Kombucha

Perfect for Kombucha! I pour warm tap water to warm the glass before pouring hot water for sweet tea. It didn't bang, so +++! As I am using this for Kombucha I do not need a lid as I use flip top glass bottles for the second fermentation to ensure maximum bubbles (carbonation). The tin was well wrapped and packaged. The price is great too! The glass is double-walled, so quite thick! I definitely recommend for kombucha. Something with a better lid is recommended for pickling. It says "sealed"โ€ฆ
