Healthy stainless steel.

I replaced the small rice steamer with this one because I didn't want a non-stick coating and it's stainless steel. Recommended by my daughter who carefully reviews her purchases. It works as described and does a good job. I still wish they had made a really small stainless steel steamer with an airtight lid. Some foods, like chicken breasts, aren't as tender. As with most stainless steel cookware, it still has stains. But I have stainless steel that's easily stained for 60 years. And no second

Makes a mess. The steam function does not switch off.

I've had this steamer for half a year now. The more I use it the more I hate it because it releases steam from the rice through the hole in the lid. Everything around it is covered with a thin layer of wet rice water, which hardens and turns into a sticky layer of rice. I constantly wipe floors, walls and counters after each use. That annoys me a lot. After a cooking session, take a look at the top of the steamer and you'll see what I'm talking about. The lid looks like a mess. Also note that…

Found correct cooking instructions for successful brown rice

I received a replacement for the first rice cooker. I've had no success with brown rice. A second rice cooker and the help of Aroma customer service resulted in excellent brown rice. Turns out it takes at least 1-1/1 cups of rice plus 3 cups of water to succeed. Select the brown rice option and it took over 1 hour for the rice to start cooking and reached the cooked rice in about 1-1/5-2 hours for a full brown rice cycle. However, the result was tastier and softer rice than the previous…

Surface damaged after one use following instructions

I wanted to love this rice cooker because of the price and the stainless steel insert. I no longer use non-stick cookware, so this was very important to me. First, what I like about it is less than a slow cooker. Very handy for storing and forgetting things. Automatically switches to keep warm mode after cooking. Makes delicious rice. What I hate about it: Can't start with less than 2 cups of uncooked rice. That's a lot of rice. Plus, it takes a while to cook compared to 15 minutes for a…

and since brown rice is well cooked on white rice

later, brown rice is never heated above "slightly warmer than hot tap water", personally brought it back to their main plant for a new one. , it also didn't work in brown rice settings. We were too lazy to return it again and since brown rice on white rice cooked so well we never returned it. But really, what's the point of having two different modes when the white rice mode cooks both? This is "significantly" less than announced. It is described in terms of the number of cups it makes, but…

Simplicity, Versatility, Functionality, Durability!

The original model, called Aroma, was a bestseller in its heyday (the gray rice cooker in the first photo). A newer model called NutriWare works even better (there is also a white rice cooker in the first photo; see comparison)! The Aroma model has been in heavy use in my kitchen for 12 years (link to second photo) and was recently replaced with a durable NutriWare model (link to third photo). The Nutriware model offers a significant upgrade with a stainless steel pot and steamer basket (much…

Stainless Steel FTW

I have been using the Aroma NutriWare 14 Cup Digital Rice Cooker for about a month now. I feel ready for a review. I am very detailed when reviewing a product. You might find this review helpful. Pros: The removable stainless steel insert is great for cleaning, even if the rice is burnt. Transitions to keep warm pretty well (once you figure it out) * Cons - rice cookers tend to splatter a lot of water/rice starch on the counter during cooking - using a steamer basket to avoid spilling it on the

I would run into a burning building for this rice cooker!

Not pure white but slightly whitish. I bought this and a smaller version (6-cup flavor that's perfect for two); the colors are exactly different, the smaller one is pure white. when it matters. But because of the performance I don't care. I bought these two to make sushi rice for a dinner party I was having. Both played great. I just decided to try something in it. Rice-a-roni. I used the saute/simmer function to sauté it according to the package directions - it takes longer than a skillet but…
