So, about the Blu-Ray option.

Recognizes and plays most region 1 DVDs. Doesn't recognize BDs. All drivers removed and reinstalled. Went to the ASUS website to check for updates and still doesn't recognize it as a BD. Unfortunately I found out too late. Don't waste your money on this device.

Cons
  • Big and chunky

Will I buy again if needed? Yes.

Seems to work fine. Very light (almost seems fragile but still feels strong). It CAN work with a single USB port for reading discs, but for optimal performance (and writing I think) you MUST have 2 USB ports relatively next to each other. Detachable from stand for flatter storage (worked well in a laptop bag).

NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS 10

Funny how it worked with my windows 10 laptop for 2 months. Then one day it won't connect anymore. I had a Windows 8 PC at home and it connected to it with no problems, proving it wasn't the right device. Contacted ASUS who replied that it is not compatible with WIN 10. The return window is closed for me and now I'm stuck with a device that doesn't work for me.

Decent Ride - Beware of Discounts

Decent Ride. I bought this Asus drive to use with my Asus laptop (it didn't come with a Blu-ray drive for some reason). It worked fine from the start. After a few months I had problems and had to reload the driver from a disc (not available on the website). Beware of the Asus discount. Forcing you to buy a product and then denying you a discount for some crazy reason is a bit of a scam. This product is only cheaper if they honor the discount. It was worth full price so I wouldn't recommend it…

Completely satisfied

First I ordered an ASUS computer CD. However, when I placed this order, I thought I read somewhere that it would also work with a Mac. I like what I read so I ordered. When I received this it didn't work. I couldn't get anything to work. So I called the manufacturer, explained what happened and they told me which of their products would work. So I am asking for a refund on the Revain PC model and they returned it to me. On the same call I ordered a new model. What impresses me is that I had the

Great product, a little difficult to install due to system issues

It was a bit difficult to get the system to recognize the hardware. I had to copy the supplied installation disk to a USB stick and tell the system to install the driver from that file, as well as install some patches that were also on the disk. After that it became pretty reliable. I've played Blu-rays and DVDs from multiple regions with no issues. I am using Leawo Blu-ray Player software (free) on Windows 10 system for Blu-ray disc and both USB lines are connected to USB 3.0 ports. I had to…

Nearly perfect.

Purchased in April 2013. At the time my computer (still new at the time) was running Windows 8. It was plug and play. Never had any issues and it complimented my ASUS ET2701 computer. I continued using the drive via a Windows 8.1 update and now the same PC has been updated to Windows 10. (Actually I double boot with Windows 8.1 and 10) no problems so far and it has NEVER burned the coaster. I lost the original dual USB cable but never had a problem with the decent cable I have. I'm upgrading my

I was pleasantly surprised when they responded in 60 seconds or less.

I bought this unit for a project after discovering that my Asus laptop's built in floppy disk drive could not burn Blu-ray. The price was definitely a plus, the looks meant I didn't have to deal with installation issues so .winner. The CD arrived quickly, as expected. I connected both USB ports to my laptop and tried to burn a project from Adobe Encore. It recognized the drive but most write options were grayed out. So I tried the included software utility. Same result - nothing. So I called…
