Suitable for kitchen and dining room

I have had to replace my pastry napkin which I have had for over 40 years as it is quite worn and torn. I didn't want a silicone mat as I'm used to turning the pie dough in half with a cloth to place on the pan. Found this one with sizes and circles directly printed on it and bought it. Exactly what I was looking for and I'm sure it will outlive me!

Pros
  • Special offer
Cons

That thing was a piece of shit

Ateco used to stand for cookware and quality. The thing has not survived a cleaning. Since the company is now run by Chinese, complaints were useless. I went to my local fabric store, bought a yard of cotton linen, hemmed it, drew a circle on it with a magic marker and got something that would last for years at a third of the price.

Finally the secret to making cake batter

I've struggled for years to learn how to make cake batter. Tried to roll between wax paper, parchment, right on the counter. Always frustrating. I've never been able to get it right without tearing it up, or making this beautiful craft piece by throwing onto my transfer needle. Read about it in Beranbaum's Bible about cakes and confectionery. Problem solved. Doesn't matter. We make more cakes. The disappointment is gone. I can also highly recommend the book.

  • Great for a small home

Fantastic for making pie dough

My wife recently tried a friend's confectionery linen for the first time. Next thing I know she refused to make cake batter without him. Luckily it came just in time for the banana cream cake I was craving. She loves how easy it is to peel off the crust without lifting it off the cutting board, even when it's heavily floured. The rolling pin cover is not suitable for rolling pins with handles that rotate inside the roller. The lid slides over the handles and they don't rotate. I suppose she…

Sturdy and big

My mom recently bought this for me as I've been baking a lot lately. I was worried it would be a nuisance and just go onto the countertop, but it actually stayed in place, reduced the amount of flour I needed, and boy was it clean in one fell swoop. I brushed off the excess flour and rolled it out. The rocker cover is also very pretty. It fit just a few inches on each end of my very long French rolling pin, which was perfect for me. I know it will also work very well on my thicker, shorter…

WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG TO BUY THIS?

Mom used this in the 50's. She kept it rolled up in the original packaging and used it every time she made cake batter. I always dusted the table with flour and scraped off the dough that was stuck to it. I took this cloth and spread it out, then dusted it liberally with flour. I also put a lid on my rolling pin and couldn't believe the difference. The dough has never stuck to anything. I also make cookies. To roll it out to 1/2" thickness I went to Home Depot and bought a 3" x 1/2" dowel, cut…

Okay but I prefer my old

It's thin and moves a lot. It also doesn't clean well. I had 2 other sets that were 50 years old and riddled with holes from so much use so I bought this set to replace. It's ok, but it shouldn't go in the washing machine, but I'll do it anyway. Maybe that's why it discolored from the fat while baking the bread, but I expected more. Because it's so thin I think I need to put something underneath so it doesn't move all over the island. I like the markings on it but since my old ones were never…

This is a REAL pastry sheet!

Have you ever liked rolling out dough on a piece of plastic? Whose idea was that? Thanks Tupperware, but NO THANKS! Just try taking the dough off the plastic and placing it on the cake in one piece! Just bought this wonderful candy fabric to replace the one my mother bought in 1956 and then "inherited" to me. I used it for many years until it finally showed holes from years of use and washing in the washing machine. This substitute is the real deal (they used to be called "oilcloth"). Simply…

Old but nice

Like all confectionery, this one needs some "breaking in". I remember loving my mother's old pastry towel. This material is not as thick as the old one. And you need to put something underneath so it doesn't slide all over the countertop. It's great to have circles to measure the dough, as well as ruler marks if you're rolling out something square or rectangular (I use this to roll out pigs in a blanket and it's a lot easier.) Overall I like it, I I will use it over the years, can't wait for it

Pros
  • Baking tins
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Once you've used this, you won't have to be without it!

This is a superior quality confectionery sheet compared to any other on the market today. (I add "today" because there was a time when these garments were made using the same technique as hemming jeans! True hemming is no longer the case. Only overlock is used.) It's a thick and heavy one Material. just enough to keep enough flour in the fibers to easily roll out even the softest, stickiest dough without adding extra flour to the dough so you get a tender crust every time. I also like that…
