They are used with stainless steel wire that can be used as a horizontal guide. That's high quality. So far they have held up in our salty air environment with no sign of rust. I would buy them again.

Looks well assembled. Be careful, the included screws are very soft and can snap if you're not careful. I used Tigerwood and had to pre-drill each hole as I broke a couple of screws in half.

Mounts this to a 2 x 2 x 1/8" steel wall tube (so without the screws provided) with 5/32" stainless steel cable to the inside railing. They work great. Be careful the first time you install them correctly as they are very difficult to remove once tightened to the cable. I plan to use them again for another project.

Very cool looking hardware. Modernist stuff. I've used it for its intended purpose (easy tutorial videos on manufacturer's website) but I can see it fully in endless uses like installing car stereo stands, retail accent pieces, closet rails. How about a transparent silicone cable instead of a stainless cable? and light at one end? Hm? Brilliant, I know ;p

RailEasy is a great product. Very high quality and easy to assemble. Due to the size, RailEasy cable must be used (5/32). Installed in a new building. The cost of this product compared to wooden spindles was about the same. But now there is very little service. My project had over 1,000 feet of cable and nearly 80 sets of turnbuckles and ends. Looks great. I would also recommend the sleeves.
