Audiotek Under Seat Active Power Subwoofer Review

Sounds better than you think. Bass isn't deep, but high bass sounds good. It's just a 10" flat mount. You can't expect much. Costs money? Yes.

For such a small speaker and box I wasn't expecting much. Boy was I surprised that this little thing HIT. No, it won't rumble on the floor or anything, but it will give you some really BIG bass. A HUGE improvement over our standard stereo and at such a low price. I wish I had had this in high school ;-)

At the risk of voiding the warranty I opened up the 10" version to see what I'm working with (see image). Installed on a Mazda MPV - that's right, not my first rodeo. The van has premium sound so I just wanted to use the factory subwoofer for the low mids and this one for the mids - just a few Hz more resonance. Annoyingly, the unit goes into protected mode at any volume above 20% - this is with the main unit on default settings and with zero gain, no pass filter and zero gain. OK - works great behind/right under my BMW 135i E88 Convertible. I wanted more "bang for your buck" than the standard Premium system, but without taking away the already small trunk (top to bottom) that I had with the traditional system. First, it didn't fit under the seat of my 05 Outback. And it comes with bass console and hi-lo input, no other wiring. The construction makes a very solid impression. Being a 10" with so much power it definitely adds some punchy bass. Any standard setup in an old car will sound better out of the box. I bought 2 of these to put under the back seats of one to fit Jeep Grand Cherokee and paired them with a Sony XAV-AX3000 I use OEM speakers for this and Alpine 250W RMS x4 Obviously the installation is silly simple just a couple of wires to connect but after installation was done I was completely dissatisfied, the sound was below average to say the least, to the point that I would get more bass out of my speakers than these…
