Soldering Mild Steel to Mild Steel

That's what I needed. It was possible to get a good bond between cast steel and mild steel. Need a 2" plug with 1/2" and 5" nipple for a filter project. I drilled a nipple hole in the connector, cleaned the black tube and used a card to make the connection. Was wanting to try welding but figured there would be a permanent connection with less effort.

They have excellent tensile strength for my home projects for joining stainless steel to stainless steel or stainless steel to copper, and the flux does a great job cleaning a dirty surface creating a strong bond. I have used propane and MAPP with these wands. When I called Aufhauser, the service was friendly and helpful. My only problem with flux coated rods is that I sometimes burn the flux off the rod, causing me to run through the flux faster than the rod. I intend to

I had 3/8" to 916" holes in a 3/16" piece of plate that were in the wrong place. I need to 1/8" to 3/8 them "Re-drill inches from where they were. So I had to plug the holes and then drill the dowels. In some cases only a small crescent of the plug was left. These plugs were meant to be there to stay, and they are. I made tight fitting steel plugs.Once I had a flashlight with enough heat to heat the work to enough silver it was easy to solder with this material.I tried 3 propane torches at a…
