I have a dog that keeps jumping into our 2017 CX5. I didn't want a shiny chrome guard because the dog scratched it. This rubber looks like it came by car and works great. It was a little tricky to put tape on the bumper first and then stick the guard on top of it, but it didn't take a rocket scientist to do it either. I'm very satisfied with this product. It doesn't look cheap at all.

They don't give you enough mounting tape to stick it on as shown in the picture was short about 3ft of tape. And the tape really sucks. It doesn't roll well and isn't very sticky (I wiped all surfaces with alcohol and warmed up the machine as directed in the instructions). I put it on but I have a feeling it will come off with the next wash. I guess I'll have to buy some good assembly tape now. The rubber tread itself is ok, but it doesn't fit perfectly. This bumper protector is nothing special and doesn't quite fit the CX-5. But it's easy enough to install and malleable enough that you can bend it to fit the contour of the bumper. Comes with two rolls of strong double-sided tape. (You'll have to apply the tape yourself.) And it seems to me - time will tell - that this is fully compatible with the CX-5's power tailgate. As long as you position it closer to the outer edge of the bumper, the underside of the tailgate doesn't appear to be touching

A common theme of bumper protectors is the phrase "watch out for the power liftgate". If the rubber is too thick or too wide, it can prevent the tailgate from closing and cause additional wear on the tailgate motor. I've read reviews of those who cut the guard to make room on the tailgate but luckily I didn't need it. I think closing the tailgate during installation helps.
