Worked great, but not for long.

They worked very well and were a lot easier to fit than chains, but it would be better if they were stronger and lasted longer. My car handled snow exceptionally well. It was nice not having to worry about them scratching my discs. Also, they didn't create as much extra noise as chains. The downside is that they only lasted 2 uses. On the second use, the fabric began to tear to the point where the tread separated from the circle. They eventually fell off after driving through the mud for 5…

NOT USED IN REALLY DEEP SNOW BUT.

Here in the Northwest we had 3-4 snowfalls over 3-4 inches last winter before we bought them we had to park about a half mile from home because it was a moderate climb with no curb (and I hate to install/borrow stock chains.and we had to warm up :)) Bought these and next snowfall we went straight uphill and there were a few patches of ice under the snow where we didn't feel tire skid. As mentioned by others, it's important to shoot "socks" when you're on bare ground/sidewalk (but they're so…

Fits perfectly for its intended purpose

The set just ordered is my second set. I had a previous kit for a car that I had just turned in that didn't fit the tires on my new car. You have to think about what the car sock is for. Not a full chain replacement (do not drive on dry roads). Think of them as the best version of those plastic "bear claws" strips you can get to help you get out of a stuck spot (tuck them under your wheels and hope they don't fly too far ). I use them to get up my fairly steep, very slippery road when I haven't

PERFECT for those who don't ride in the snow

I'm from Florida so I know I shouldn't ride when it's snowing. However, there are times when I still have to go to work. When I was looking for snow chains, I came across AutoSock on the internet. I was worried about how difficult it would be to put the chains on. I watched some videos about AutoSock and decided to give it a try. When I first used it I was amazed. I could drive around safely. There are several steep hills in Seattle, and when it snows it's almost impossible to get around. Once…

amazing grip on snow and ice

Car socks are the best thing that happened to me this winter. We have a steep (30-50%) quarter mile driveway with a few banked turns, fairly typical of the rural West. Up until this winter, we never felt the need for four-wheel drive in anything other than a pickup truck, which I don't drive. On the rare occasions when I couldn't lift a front-wheel drive car up the driveway -- when it was covered in snow or ice -- my husband would hitch it to a tractor and tow the car away. That winter…
