🔵 Avid G2 Clean Sweep Disc Brake Rotor for Bicycles Review

I have several of these on different bikes. The one that came with the BB7 brake doesn't stop screeching at lower speeds. It's also prone to uneven braking, meaning the wheel will judder under braking. This leads me to believe that the rotor is not very flat. I wish they liked more but I think I'll try another brand as a substitute.

I have ordered 160mm and 180mm for my new wheelset. 180mm came in Avid packaging and included mounting screws. 160mm came in a plastic bag, no screws. Now I need to track the bolt set. This is misleading as I ordered one of each size from the same range but by simply selecting different sizes from the drop down menu I may or may not receive mounting screws.

A few years ago I bought a 2009 Specialized Crosstrail Comp and the front rotor was always off. Not sure if it was a defect or something else but after ignoring it for a while I decided to replace it. Picked up this rotor, replaced (direct exchange) and it works great! No complaints. It comes with full retail packaging including new mounting screws. All in all, if your rotors are warped or just worn out, this is a great replacement!

My Avid Elixir CR came with G3 rotors. The stern squeaked like a banshee. I've tried the recommended SRAM hack and tweak method three times and nothing has calmed the squeaking. In the end I decided to change the rotor. The G2 is a little heavier due to fewer cutouts and I think that might be why it's quieter. The pads are in contact with a harder surface. I increased the Avid BB7 wheels on my city bike from 160mm to 203mm. I bought Avid IS caliper adapters to make the transition. I ride in urban conditions with some long descents due to the hilly terrain here in Seattle. I'm a big guy with a heavy bike so bigger rims were needed. I found the 203 barely fitting, with only 1-2mm clearance from the outside edge of the disc to the inside of the fork leg. Enough to clean without friction.
