Doesn't squeak on sport

My first attempt at changing disc brakes. It's not easy to remove old brakes (remove one pad at a time). Not much better than installing new brakes. I hope this experience has taught me how to do it much faster next time. The new pads are very quiet, that's the only reason I had to replace the old pads. The new pads make some noise, but only at the bottom under hard braking downhill. No squeaking after more than 100 km. It is recommended to avoid any contamination with oil, grease and dirt.

  • Quality build

So far so good - parts and components

Works fine for me, no unwanted noises so far. They only have a few hundred miles so no best before dates yet. Unfortunately, in the past I've only ridden about 1600 miles with a pair of these $18 pads, while in the more distant past I've ridden double or triple that with a set of $10 caliper pads on the same caliper. wheel under the same riding conditions (and no noticeable reduction in rim life with rim brakes, so I don't see that as a cost factor). It's not really a cost-effective improvement

Pros
  • Sturdy construction

  • Negative present

Longer. for sports

I have tried both organic and metallic (baked) pads. My LBS eventually sold me bio pads because they are quieter. But after trying organic in two full sets, I found that metallic/baked lasted twice as long as organic and maybe longer. I have no problem with noisy metal pads unless they get wet crossing a creek or need replacing. sneaked up on me pretty quickly. Nothing I want to do in the middle of a long sweet singletrack while my friends wait below! Grrrr Buy sintered pads to save time and…
