If you've never used them they have good consistent stopping power with no squeaks. So that they don't rob, good modulation. The major caveat is that they will eat away at your rims and you should inspect the brake pads every few hundred miles and remove any aluminum bits with an awl or pickaxe.

I don't know how I've missed the boat for so long. I kept buying new brake pads + struts. A little more expensive and a little more work. These INSERTS (yes, all you get are two pieces of rubber and two pins) are all you need. The brake change took about 10 minutes and I only needed needle nose pliers to get the pins out!

There's nothing wrong with these pads from Avid. As most cyclists know, the company makes very good products and they are no exception to this rule. They hold up well in wet, dry, muddy, dusty, hot and cold conditions and have average durability (which I think is the right balance of durability and stopping power). The pads get 5 stars.
