Accurate to 4%

Just received the thermometer. Did a temperature calibration test. at sea level with distilled water for cooking and an ice bath. For the ice temperature (0°C), the thermometer showed 0.7°C. The thermometer showed the boiling point (100°C) to be 96.5°C. Not that bad.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Wrinkled

My son is doing two different science fair projects in eighth grade and needs a science thermometer. As he performed the second of nine tests, I noticed that the liquid in the thermometer looked odd. The temperature only reached 25 degrees, but the line started to look like dashes instead of a straight line. I knew there was a problem and we stopped the test. When I lifted the thermometer from above, it broke. If you look at the picture I've attached it looks like it will start loosening at…

  • Satisfied so far

Works, but they are HUGE.

Good. Bought to measure temperature. I like the old mercury thermometers better than the digital ones. When I received them I laughed. Yes. do the work But they are like 2 feet long lol. You are perfect. If you are an elephant hahaha. I kept them because they work and sometimes I lose the normal ones. I gave it a good rating because they really work. Maybe that says something about how tall they are. I didn't look. 🤷‍♀️

Pros
  • Check, measure and check
Cons
  • So far so good

Excellent thermometer

I received two of these thermometers for a 4th grade science project. I ordered two based on all the reviews of them breaking or not working after a while. Both thermometers were intact upon arrival so we settled on one. We heated and cooled it extensively for several hours. Response was quick and we had no problems. They also turned out to agree with other thermometers. Great item and I would buy another one.

Pros
  • Temperature and Humidity
Cons
  • Hard to answer

Sous vide for the poor

Too cheap for a real sous vide machine, I just used a pot of water on the stove for sous vide cooking. Obviously this requires good temperature control, so use HB Instrument's 2/1110 Durac full immersion thermometer. It is convenient to use and long enough not to fall into a pot of water. I compared to a digital meat thermometer (which I think can only be more accurate as it reads up to 1/10th of a degree) and they were only off by about 1 degree Celsius.

Pros
  • Glass thermometer
Cons
  • Doubtful
