It's worth the wait at Motor Parts

The product should be listed on the datasheet. Delivery took a month, but better late than never. I don't know why but they suspect COVID. Would buy again without question! The item fit perfectly!

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • No

Fits my Toyota Corolla

This item wasn't very expensive so I was skeptical at first but it fitted perfectly and my engine growl went away immediately. Hopefully I won't have to change this part anytime soon.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Only available in white

Modification required for proper installation!

Warning! The bolt that attaches the pulley to this tensioner protrudes slightly and touches the timing cover on the engine. If you buy this assembly you will need to trim the screw so it sits flush with the back of the tensioner bracket!

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • The list is getting long.

Buy/Install 2002 Corolla Tensioner

Worked great on my 2002 Corolla. The noise is gone. You don't actually have to jack the car up or anything to get the bolt out. You can easily remove the gudgeon pin and slide it out after removing the main pin. The installation took me less than 30 minutes. It would be quicker if I used a ratchet wrench. Let's hope this lasts.

So far, so good. Pretty happy.

After loosening the motor mount on the passenger side and jacking the motor up high enough to have enough clearance to remove the main tension screw, the part went in perfectly. Driven more than 5,000 km, so far so good. However, I would recommend replacing the new belt during the repair. This was done on an 07 Corolla S with 130,000 miles.

Pros
  • One year trial period
Cons
  • unreliable

Cheap part in Parts

Pulley or damper if you will, so hard, when I pulled the breaker to loosen the tension, the screw fell off immediately. The tensioner didn't move at all. Save money and buy cheap. Spent money and bought a quality part. I went to a national auto parts store and paid for a much better part. This is a very cheap item. Do not buy.

Pros
  • A few competitors
Cons
  • Some little things

What if I told you we ALREADY IN THE MATRIX

The picture is a little wonky but it looks EXACTLY like an OEM tensioner, don't worry about the installation. The only real difference is that there is some sort of surface on the pulley to hide the screw and bearing; I wanted to take it off and take a picture but didn't want to accidentally damage it. The pulley itself also seems a little odd, for example the OEM pulley was free to spin like a well-bearing skateboard wheel, but this one only spins for a second. Perhaps the bottom pulley is…

Cons
  • Hard to tell
