Blade fits a round hole. I have no doubt that the small amount of wood just holding the edges of the blade (since the center is just a big hole) won't hold and the blade will likely end up in my hand. I expected a higher quality from a branded knife. The blade metal also appears to be of poor quality and I expect corrosion to show up quickly. Complete disappointment.

The original product I received was a factory defect as it was very blunt and the tip bent almost immediately when cutting softwood. However, customer service contacted me and sent me a free replacement with leather strap and polish. The replacement I received works very well and is a good entry level knife. Just make sure you use a carving glove.

I have over 100 carving knives of different types and manufacturers. Some of my knives are beautiful hand-forged works of art. I tried this knife just for fun and was very surprised at how sharp it is for an entry level knife. He even held the edge well. The fit and finish is on the poor side, but overall this is a great knife for a beginner. I recommend it as a first knife for people who are just starting out in carving. This won't be my everyday knife, but great value for money!

I have a Swiss chip cutter that cuts paper like butter but I had to take it out of the box. This one has gotten very sharp, cuts heavy printer paper like nothing and feels good, needs no adjustment. Just starting to learn carving/planing and got my hands on this little Beaver Craft knife and it comes in very handy for those hard to reach places. It arrived quite sharp but I think it could have been a little thinner and I sharpened it to make the blade a little thinner otherwise it's fine.
