The plastic clamp can be deformed by engine heat

The temperature sensor works perfectly. I bought this exact item 2 years ago and the plastic clip has warped due to engine heat. It eventually popped out, causing most of the coolant to enter the engine bay and overheating the engine. Thankfully, the 2003 Passat wasn't far from home when it happened. The clamp appears to have a lower melting point than the OEM clamp. This time I zipped the clip in place. Hopefully this will prevent a catastrophic coolant release.

It's green and it's a common VW vulnerability.

Used on my 2004 Passat 2.8, my sons 2002 Golf 2.0 and my Audi TT 1.8 225hp. This is the part that you need to replace when you get refrigeration codes on your vehicle. This is not the only way to get codes (p2181, p1296, p1136), but it is a very common reason. It comes with an O ring. The ones we got were green and that fixed the codes for us. Sometimes the codes you have are related to your thermostat or the coolant itself. Can't reach the price and free shipping. I always test my parts on…

Everything you need is included (but doesn't work)

The package arrived promptly. The box contained a sensor, u-clamp and o-ring. It has everything you need. I waited for the car to cool down, removed the radiator cap to relieve the pressure and simply replaced the sensor. The antifreeze has not spilled. It's easy to fix! I'll update my review once I'm sure the error code has been fixed. Update: After driving my 2000 VW Jetta 2.0L the temp was over the 190 mark and randomly dropped. It's not reliable and I replaced it with another sensor that…

Easy to install, perfect fit, comes with everything you need

My 2003 Jetta 2.8L VR6 does not start well on a hot start. The forums suggest that while the dash sensor reads normal, the ECU readings are erratic and make the car think it's cold and then request a cold start log. The engine seems to squirt on warm starts until you rev it up a bit. We've got months of cold weather ahead of us so time will tell if that fixes the issue, but it was an easy install. We removed the inlet selector actuator to make this sensor easier to access. We pulled out the old
