no more dying

After my son researched why his 1999 Honda Prelude just died whenever it felt like it, freeway, freeway, rush hour. This was seen as a problem. Despite knowing full well that it was the problem, the Honda dealer wanted $100.00 to "diagnose" the problem because he knew it wasn't going to die within the hour! The car has not died since installation. Yes.

Make my Prelude safe to drive!

My Honda has had an ignition switch recall for a long time. They no longer fit my model. The ignition switches would fail, killing the engine either at idle or at mid-speed. You can imagine the dangers this can pose to the driver. After I replaced the ignition lock myself, my Prelude is safe to drive and the engine no longer stops spontaneously. Plus, changing the ignition switch is as easy as a caveman could do.

Pros
  • Switch
Cons
  • Some defects

fixed my occasional freezing problem.

It was delivered on time. I installed it on my foreplay. It was a chore because of the fancy bolts holding the ignition in place from the factory. I replaced them with torx screws. Initially I had trouble getting the key to start the car after the first start with the new switch. Seems to be working fine now after a few days. Even with the key stuck, it's better than braking every 2 miles at 70mph on the freeway until I can get the key in the right place. Good product. I hope it lasts 16 years…

Pros
  • Spare parts
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Fits 1998 Honda Prelude, fixed random shutdown issue

Worked like a dream. My car just turned off while driving. I tried several methods to no avail and decided the next cheap route would be to turn off the ignition. When you took my old one off you could see it was clearly fried as the plastic had actually melted. Plug it in and it's been behaving like a dream ever since. Those of you who have Preludes know the originals were mismanufactured and have been recalled, but most of us are not entitled to replacements. Don't waste money. Buy and switch
