Don't do it with networking products

in the first place. It's not compatible with Windows XP, and even if it miraculously works, it only uses a version 1 PCMCIA card, which Belkin no longer makes! Dude, what a nightmare! Luckily I only paid $10 + $5 an hour and was able to pawn it for the same amount, THANK GOD so my advice is to try a different route.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Nothing

Good adapter but not PCI-PCMCIA bridge

I bought this adapter thinking it was a regular PCMCIA-PCI bridge. So I could use any PCMCIA card in it. However, it uses firmware that only works with Belkin's 802.11b PCMCIA card. You cannot upgrade your wireless network and you cannot use it for modems or other PCMCIA cards. She does what she says but no more.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others

Very picky about USB network adapters

Well I bought this thing knowing I have a Belkin PCMCIA version 1 card. I installed a PCI card and still got an error signal. It turns out that there are even version 1 PCMCIA cards that don't work with a PCI adapter. Presumably Belkin marked some wrong ones and some non-working ones got into the party. Although it took tech support forever to get a solution, they kindly sent me a brand new PCMCIA card that works with the PCI adapter. Perhaps my only suggestion for this product and any PCMCIA…

Pros
  • Brilliantly done
Cons
  • disappears

Doesn't seem to work with F5D6020 ver 2 PC card

I thought I'd be wiser and buy a PC card for my lappy and then an adapter for my desktop so I can use it my PCCard in the desktop PCI slot. I received the F5D6020 as stated in the information to use the above product. The PC card works great with my lappy and I can easily connect to my wireless network. However, the problem is that I installed the PC card reader shown above (e.g. F5D6000) on my desktop and connected the PCCARD to the adapter. During the installation everything works fine…

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • Not the best
